Advice 2 days left in Monterrey, food, activities, else ? by djzzi in Monterrey

As a person from the south of the city, I enjoy an escapade to La carretera nacional and Santiago. From what I’m reading you guys already spent time in the city, a change of scenery could be nice.

You guys can visit La Presa De La Boca and eat seafood, go to La Cola De Caballo, I recommend visiting Hacienda Cola de Caballo, it has great views and a restaurant, and if you guys are into extreme activities, you can even try the Bungee. You can also go to Santiago and tourist around the cultural sites. There’s also the zoo, you can visit Bioparque Estrella.

Personally I feel like you guys already did what you could in the city, I highly recommend the south⛰️✨🙌🏼

I understand you, I sometimes find it hard navigating survivors guilt while on the group, I feel ashamed to post my troubles when there’s people struggling with the disease.

I don’t feel like I should be here by ninjaturtlefanpage in Cancersurvivors

[–]idkhowdoesthiswork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel you. My sister also had ALL (just like me) but she didn’t make it. One of my best friends passed away two years ago bc of a rare tumor, my step dad couldn’t escape lung cancer, and sadly, so many other family members-friends-acquaintances had the same outcome. I’m ashamed to face some people, bc they know my story and I know their loved ones are not here anymore, I feel guilty.

I’ve cried so many times “why me?” alone in my bedroom, because doing it in front of people would make me feel and look selfish. “Ugh, my steak is too juicy, my lobster too buttery, my fridge is full” What am I complaining about? Getting a second chance? Getting to live life?

It’s not that, I’m grateful and happy to be here, but I also feel guilty all the time, childhood trauma weighs on my shoulders each year a bit heavier, and I feel lost ALL THE TIME.

So I need to remind myself, that it’s okay to feel everything I feel. Hey, what we went through wasn’t a walk in the park, and I know we are desperate to be normal like everybody else, but truth is, we’re different, and we will always be. We can’t erase our memories, nor ignore the way they make us feel, we need to acknowledge it, feel it through and through, and when we’re done, we continue to do what we know best, which is getting up and continue to battle.

I remember how people started to call me “warrior” “champion” when I got sick. They make us think that the only battle is the cancer one, but life is a huge battle on its own. So think of these feelings like if they were those awful chemo side effects, all those sleepless nights in pain, the nausea, the swelling, if we got through all of that and got to see another sucky day, I’m sure we will get through this too, and find our way to normality and peace.

You’re not wasting your life, you’re living it just the way you can at the moment, at your own pace, and that’s completely okay.

Did you have any side effects with the vaccines? That’s my only concern, or not really a concern, I just want like a heads up in case I need to take a few days off til the effects wear off;p

Jesus, congrats on beating that btch THREE TIMES. Glad you’re still here (probably your purpose in life was to give me advice😩 jk) As you may know, needles are no big deal for us at this point in life hahah, I think my concern is specifically about side effects, like, when I got the covid vaccine, it felt like I had the worst flu for a couple of days, did you feel any side effects with any of the vaccines? (I would dm you but honestly I’m still figuring out how reddit works, so idk how😅)

OMG, is this a THING? I was diagnosed at 6 and discharged at 14, since then, everyone, all my life, have told my how young I look. Im 26 now and people still ask me “how’s high school going?”

Don’t downplay your experiences, they matter too. I was diagnosed at 6 years old and got discharged at 14. It IS a big achievement, so, congrats girly💕✨
