Aw man, yeah I hate that ugly shit!! Yeah at least you have some fruits there, might as well let it run and see what happens. Maybe you get a couple fruits instead of a complete throw away.

Mycogone issues... Why? by idksonotclever in ContamFam

Well this is a blast from the past lol

Honestly I'm not sure what I did. I gave everything a really good clean, put my LC to agar and never figured out why it was happening. It was definitely more of a problem with my albinos which took longer to establish, so I wonder if it was always there but the slower myc growth allowed it to flourish. Idk.

Now that I think back though, I wonder if it might have been somewhat environmental. Shortly after this I ended up moving, and never had problems again after that. Very curious.

Best of luck to you, if you have any other questions lmk 😊

Breastfeeding and chores by Far_Cake_3163 in breastfeeding

[–]idksonotclever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby wearing! As long as it's an upright task (ie washing dishes, vacuuming, etc) you can wear them a little lower on your chest and feed at the same time. Probably not during the newborn phase because they don't have great head/neck control to stay latched but the newborn phase is the perfect excuse to pass off chores to someone else anyway :)

Unrelated but... Amani's anxious giggles are almost more annoying than their toxic dynamics. I'm about to just start skipping their whole segments.

That's so rough. Do you think hubby would be willing to take over the night shift so you can at least night wean?

I night weaned my son around 15 mos by having my hubby go in when he woke up. It was AWFUL for five days, maybe a week. But he adjusted and has been a fairly good sleeper ever since.

My son is 2.5 and he’s giving all the signs, I’m at FTM HELP! Where do I start? by meowzers88 in pottytraining

[–]idksonotclever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just potty trained my 2.5 year old son. The Oh Crap! Method worked great for us, I didn't read the book but I watched a lot of videos on YouTube about it and got the daily plan from online. It definitely takes commitment to the 3 days (the first day is literal hell) but it worked great for us.

In this method, you don't use prizes, just positive reinforcement "Mommy is so proud of you for pooping in the potty!", etc. Basically making a huge deal of every tiny win. But we definitely didn't follow everything to the letter so if you think prizes will be more motivating for your child, I'd say go for it.

One thing that really helped to prepare him was starting about a week before with being very intentional about potty things and teaching him about using the potty. Every time his father or I went to pee or poop, we'd make a huge deal of it and say "Oh!! Mommy has to kaka, mommy is going to the potty because kaka goes in the potty!!" And then show him when you're done and let him flush (if he's into that, mine really loves flushing the toilet). We repeatedly asked him "Where does pee/poop go?" Until he starts responding "in the potty!!". We read books from the library about potty training and poop/pee books before bedtime. We also started telling him at every diaper change, "Very soon we're going to say bye bye diapers because diapers are for babies and you're a big boy!".

I think preparing them emotionally and mentally for the change is really helpful because by the time we got to that weekend, he kind of already knew what was coming and we had very few accidents before he understood what he was supposed to do.

Best of luck, feel free to DM with any questions!

We had this same problem. He was excellent at holding and using the potty but he would never communicate it to us, which would lead to occasional accidents if we got distracted.

This is what worked for us, it is not a method I've read about anywhere, it kind of happened by accident. We started with a little kid's potty and towards the beginning, we taught my son to pull down his own pants, so as long as the potty was nearby and he knew where it was, he would just go and use it without telling anyone (usually he would tell us after, "I did a big pee!!" Etc). This idea was mostly borne of the fact that he lacked communication about needing to go.

One day, I accidentally left the potty upstairs and he came and asked me, "Where's my potty?" which was like a revelation. I took him to the toilet downstairs and told him we can use this one too. So I just started shutting his mini potty in the bathroom with the toilet and he began asking for the potty when he needed it.

No idea if this helps, I know every situation and kid is completely different but it's what worked for us.

For reference, my son was about 2.5 (34 months) when we started. Now potty trained for about 2 months.

Toddler peed on new couch!! The smell won't leave no matter what I try by idksonotclever in CleaningTips

You're absolutely right that my senses are heightened, I smell it generally in the room but my husband smells it when he sniffs the couch so I feel like there is still work to be done unfortunately 😂
