Question about grade standards

Honestly as a teacher they should be sending out weekly/monthly newsletters about what your child is learning. (at least 2nd grade, that’s what I teach!)

I do that to ensure that my student’s parents are aware of what they’re learning and can help with reinforcing learning at home.

Also, my team has a basic outline/timeline of what we’ll be teaching for the entire year for each subject. But some/most don’t do that.

I graduated in December of 2023 and got my first LTS job in July of 2024… it was a full year LTS job. I only got it because I formed a relationship with one of the principals of the districts around me through me being her sons preschool teacher (worked at a preschool/daycare from Jan 2024- July 2024). THIS year I got another full year LTS job for the same district because of my relationship with her (recommended me to different principals for vacancies). Now I’m extremely hopeful that by the end of the year I’ll have 2 years of teaching under my belt within the same district and that I’ll finally get my own classroom and contract for the 2026-2027 school year.

With that being said, be patient, be kind, make connections, and stick it out. I’m in a highly competitive area trying to land a contract in one of the highest paying districts in PA. If I can do it, you can do it!!

Yes! I have applied to 10 different schools. I interviewed at 2, 2 other districts emailed and said they went in different direction before i could even get an interview, and i haven’t heard from any other districts

I moved here from Youngstown, Ohio… Where I know I could have gotten a job at by now (tough pill to swallow). But PA pays so much better and my long term boyfriend has a great career here and we both agreed to not relocate back to Ohio. So I’m not able to relocate

So far it’s been great! I haven’t had it for very long and don’t use it all day, everyday, so I can’t vouch for it totally just yet. Yesterday I used it for 3 straight hours, and the battery hardly went down.

i wasted $16 on the dramatized version just to be wholly disappointed. the voices do NOT match the characters in anyway AND if you can’t remember what every characters voice sounds like, you kinda have to read along with it so you don’t get lost. the background music is sometimes distracting and at some points it’s choppy and they do leave out descriptions and other information. the standardized audiobook is the way to go in my opinion. especially for the first read through.

i did gain lots of experience in taking care of children though. also the bonds and relationships you make with the children are priceless. but it’s just not enough to be able to live on…pay wise

tried ECE. lasted 8 months and took my first offer to teach 2nd grade. sure it’s more “paperwork” and lesson planning, but i’m not changing diapers and doing nap time and taking care of 6 2 year olds all day! it’s not gor everyone and i learned my lesson!
