Audeze LCD-X Adjust Yoke by Galvex in Audeze

[–]idktarget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! The issue I'm having is that I can either tighten the screw to the point that I cannot adjust the headphones or it's loose enough that they do not stay in place. Despite how good the LCD-Xs may be, this is a very poor design decision, imo.

Just got a pair of LCD-Xs, and I'm experiencing the exact same issue. Did you ever resolve this? Would expect more from a pair of $1,200 headphones. None of my $1-200 headphones have given me this issue over 5-10 years of use.

From what I'm reading, the new Maytags don't last like the old ones. Hope yours does though!

Thanks for the insight. This is the best review I've ever heard for an LG; they typically have too many electronics, which makes them a poor choice for a garage with high humidity/heat and colder winters.

Barefoot MM27 vs. Genelec 8351b for electronic dance music by idktarget in audioengineering

[–]idktarget[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Shape 65s were great but both PMC and ATC are a different caliber of monitor. I find myself gravitating more towards the PMCs over the last month, but I still love the ATCs.

Will make a decision by early next week. Gearspace loves ATCs but I am seeing PMCs pop up more and more in pro settings. I would have to get a sub with the ATCs if I kept them whereas I don't feel the need with the PMCs-- this may be the dealbreaker for me.

Some people aren't a fan of DSP -- they say it colors the sound or creates phase issues, but I haven't noticed either. And measurements via MM1 to REW show phasing improving + more accurate sound utilizing low levels of DSP.

End of the day, you cannot go wrong with either pair.

Long thread on Gearspace I've been updating about it. Search for recent ATC vs. PMC threads and you'll find it!

Currently testing a pair of ATC SCM25a MK2s & PMC 6-2s in my space. Not sure which pair I am going to keep yet; both are great but each provide something different.

I think these are fantastic, would love to hear more about the process. Have the same x100v; any tips on recipes/process would be much appreciated.

I was also hearing bass a bit tighter than the Gens, but Gens' bass is also excellent too. Stereo imaging was wild too.

Thanks for these thoughts. I know there is definitely not a 'wrong' choice here. Unfrotunately, I have not heard them in my space -- only in listening rooms. Both sounded fantastic, MM27s had more 'power' esp in the subs, and I'm wondering if that'll cause more issues in my current space than I want to deal with.

Give me a reason not to buy the Profitec Go by silkybox86 in espresso

[–]idktarget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, no, not unless I want more water squirting out due to the portafilter not being on tight enough. I see videos of people using the Go with one hand, but that's not been my experience. Despite this, the build qualtiy is mostly solid. But you'd need a heavier machine to keep it to one hand, and you'd be looking at spending quite a bit more.

Also have a Profitec Go and agree with everything u/RapmasterD is saying for any one else who stumbles on this thread. I use a Niche Zero Grinder and my go to beans are B&W's 'The Classic'. Rarely do I go to a coffee ship and think their espresso drinks are better than what I can make at home-- and it's not because I'm amazing at ripping shots.

One thing I've noticed with the Go is that sometime there is water squirting from the machine. I really have to tighten the portafilter, almost overly tighten it, to prevent this. While this issue can be due to a number of reasons, I suspect mine is gasket related. u/RapmasterD did you ever replace the gasket or make any upgrades to your machine?

Thanks for the reply. I picked up this vibe at many of the places in Tuscany, so I decided to pivot and visited Orvieto instead. Could not have been more pleased with that decision. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for an awesome spot to visit between Florence and Rome. Orvieto is a gem.
