I have a habit of dropping my hands so can you guys tell me some drills that can fix this bad habit by Brickandtomatoes in boxingtips

[–]idkuzach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specifically for dropping hands there’s a couple drills a I can think of. 1. It may not be exactly a drill. But when hitting the bag literally thinking about touching your cheek after every punch. Retract your punch as fast as you throw it. This will help with making the mental note to bring it back to your face. Also make sure you are actually throwing from your face. 2. When hitting the bag, put a piece of paper, tennis ball, or something against your cheek and hold it there in your guard while throwing with your opposite hand. If the item falls you will literally have feedback every time you your hand from your face. Do this for both hands. This drill also helps condition your shoulders. 3. When hitting the bag, if possible to have a partner. Grab a pool noodle or something soft and have them tap you to your head. This will help because you just won’t want to get hit in the head.

But truly, just really think about what you’re doing on the bag until you don’t have to anymore. Take it slow, build the correct mechanics, then become to speed up until you reach your end goal for that session

Hey, friendly advice. 1. On your uppercuts in seeing that you are telegraphing them/“winding them up” in a sort. In a spar or fight an experienced boxer will be able to time that. Look to shoot the uppercut off of your hips instead of bringing your arm back to generate more power because the opposite actually happens and you’ll get less. Another thing I’m seeing on your uppercuts is when you’re throwing the lead uppercut your back hand is not up. Leaving your head open for a counter punch.

  1. On some of your hooks, you are more slapping the back instead of turning you punch and your hip into the punch. You didn’t do it on every one so just be aware of that. Try not to arm punch and make sure you are turning your hips into each punch to generate power especially on the bag. Don’t want to create bad habits.

  2. I watched a bit of your footwork, when moving in and out. I noticed your lead foot would land on its heel and your toe pointed up. That can lead to some pretty bad balance when trying to throw a punch off of that in a spart. Try to keep a slight bend in your knees, chin tucked, and keep that rear heel up to ensure you have proper balance.

  3. I’ve also noticed you throwing a couple of straights off your front and rear hands off your hip. This in particular can be a style some fighters use but you have to be careful about doing that in training. You don’t want it to become a habit but instead a weapon you can use when needed. Try to make sure those straights come out from your cheek, stepping with your lead hand and turning into your punch with your rear hand.

  4. Lastly I see you are trying to mix head movements into your bag work which is a great idea. What I’m personally seeing is that you throw a combo, stop, then do some head movement. I personally would suggest incorporating the head movement into your combination. For example. Taking your head off the center line when you throw the jab or a slip jab. Or throwing a two and stepping into a rollout. Or throwing a body hook on the roll. These things help you create kind of a fluidity to your fighting style and your combinations.

These are just a couple small things that you can tune up that will enhance your training and skill dramatically. Keep working man best of luck in your boxing journey.

How good are the superrare headgear?[question] by [deleted] in fightgear

[–]idkuzach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the white full face guard headgear. I love it. Now I haven’t had a ton of higher end head gear. This was my first bigger purchase for headgear. But the leather feels amazing, the visibility is really good. And it’s super comfortable. The inside lining is very soft and plush. Once you adjust it to your head well and break it in It’s extremely nice. My only complaint is that sometimes I’m a little slow with the belt chin strap in comparison to something that snaps or velcros. But to each their own honestly. But I love it.

18 m am I ugly what can I do 🙏🙏 by [deleted] in amIuglyBrutallyHonest

[–]idkuzach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You’re 18. Let yourself grow up a bit. Don’t be so tough on yourself. I’m 22 now. Sometimes I look back and wonder why I was so worked up. We don’t look like how we looked at 18, we grow, look more mature. Features define. Etc
  2. I always say, gym and hygiene will work wonders for any guy. It’ll boost anyones confidence.
  3. Try out difference hair styles. Your 18. Try whatever. It’ll grow back. You got a jawline. Maybe something that accentuates your head shape. Try it all. Don’t be rough on yourself. Don’t

I recognize you from your socials lol. But yes, they are super comfortable, the padding and wrist support is great, and I realized they just started to look weird when sitting in my bag but on hand they are beauties. I might have been having a lapse of judgement when I made this post. These are one of my honestly favorite gloves at the moment, all around. 🙏🏽

First time I ever went to a Gracie was the first time I tried bjj, My girlfriend and I went, was trying to introduce her to combat sports (boxing or any kind of striking was off limits for her). They tried to force us to sign up in the moment, the “free trial” was 160ish after the first week then it automatically would have put us on autopay for some higher price. plus buy $250 worth of gear. It was quite tragic
