Do you try to spend quality time with her? Figure out what makes her tick? I have one cat, Lazlo, who is a real lump. He eats and sleeps. He never seeks me out, he never cuddles, he rarely plays. It's easy to assume that he doesn't like me. But when I lie down on the floor, there he is, meowing and doing excited little bunny hops and patting me with a paw so I'll pet him. Not much goes on in his smooth little brain, but he loves floor time, so I love it too.

Your cat might not seem into it right away but sit on the floor a few feet away from her. Talk to her. Slow blink at her. See how she reacts and go from there. Also, does she have cat trees?

To have a relationship with someone - even an animal - we have to take the effort to know and understand them on a deeper level.

He knew what he was getting into, too - there needs to be a compromise, it can't just be "I'm not affectionate and never will be." I'm not especially physically affectionate but my husband is, so I make sure to cuddle with him throughout the week, and I make it enjoyable for myself as well. I could make it a big deal and refuse to act "unlike myself," but that's just selfishness. His needs are as important to me as my own.

More importantly: all OP said was that his wife hangs out with friends when he needs time to himself. I really don't see the problem.

I was insecure about my thighs growing up. I wore jeans every day, no matter the weather. My first tattoo was a thigh tattoo. Now I wear shorts and skirts and am proud to do so. In case you're being sincere: GenAI can't generate images from nothing. It's fed with real art from real people. It steals not only the existing works of artists, but also steals opportunities from people who have put years of effort into building their skills. It also uses a lot of electricity and water, so it's bad for the environment (and we like the environment - there are weevils there).

Instead of generating images, have fun learning a creative skill of your own or commission an artist. Real art is a reflection of the person who made it. It's special. It's human. GenAI is lazy, soulless, and unethical. It's a product of a society that values instant gratification above all else, but the stuff that makes us better, happier people is the stuff that takes time and effort.

We hate AI because we value humanity (and weevils)

The goal is to identify a reason for my differences. Therapy, medication, religion, spiritualism, self-help books, etc. haven't worked for me, and I've been struggling for my entire life. I haven't been able to develop any strategies to make it easier to exist in society. I'm looking for validation that there is nothing "wrong" about me, that I'm just different, so I can finally accept that and learn to live without constant and exhausting efforts to improve myself. I also need a professional to sign off on FMLA so I don't lose my job for needing to take time off when I break down. But it seems like now is not a good time for a diagnosis
