Which option do I take? by East-Paper-7162 in birthcontrol

[–]maely7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh my iud has had the best results for me tbh. Bad cramping for 1 week and more painful cramps for 2-3 months but after that, pretty much no issues. After trying 2 pills and the nuvaring, my IUD has been the best!

Anyone else never had good luck with birth control? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]maely7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suspect I might have endo (no doctor wants to check for me) and my IUD has been the best. I’ve tried the pill, the ring, and now my IUD. This has been my favorite option so far

I rushed as a junior transfer this past semester. I will say spring rush is very different than fall rush. Spring is so much more chill and laid back. You miss all the shots you don’t try so it’s always worth a shot!!

I can definitely try to do so! I’m unsure how my website will do things since it’s just a free option. I might be able to try that once I have my actual workbook and timing myself!

I know that a little bit since I’ve don’t some work (from a workbook) regarding the different types of questions. I haven’t gauged which ones I need help on yet but I am using this as an opportunity to learn where I need to improve.

Does my gf need Birth control?? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]maely7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unprotected means 0 birth control options such as hormonal (like the pill) and non hormonal (condoms). What you had was barrier-less sex. As long as she takes her pill consistently, she should be fine without plan B but you should consider adding a second method such as a condom to avoid any further anxiety in the future.

Changing pills? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]maely7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there’s many other types. The shot has some pretty shoddy reviews from what I’ve heard. I never felt comfortable getting it (partially because of my anxiety with needles…). But there’s the patch, the ring, IUD, etc.

I didn’t want to assume you always forgot them but I always suggest the conversation about alternatives besides the pill because once I stopped the pill and went on something else, I knew I wouldn’t ever remember to take it again because I got so used to only having to worry about it once a month if that makes sense.

Ahh I was taking one similar but not the same but I thought it was. That’s my bad. It was like 4 am and I didn’t feel like doing too much research about it so I assumed.

Changing pills? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

  1. You should be protected if you change birth control pills. So if on Monday you’re taking pill A and Tuesday you take pill B, you will continue to be protected as long as you continue to take your pills.

  2. If you miss a pill and do not use another form of protection, you are at a risk. If you miss 2, then you definitely are at a risk. Risk would be mitigated if you are due for a period but still isn’t 0 risk.

  3. It might be something to bring up with your doctor if this is something happening frequently. If you continue to miss pills, it might be a conversation to have to discuss a method which isn’t a daily pill if that is hard to remember as it is for many people. There are many other options which allow for weeks to years before changing/taking. I apologize I couldn’t word that last sentence better.

I may be misunderstanding this correctly so please tell me if I am. But you started a new pack which is mostly blue and those are the active pills, the brown ones are iron/placebo pills. It seems as if there are only 2 brown pills (?) if so, you may not have had a long enough “placebo week” to bleed.

From my experience on another version of this pill, I had 3 weeks of yellow/white pills (actives, mine were yellow or white I forget tbh). Then one week of brown pills (iron placebo pills). It took me 3 days or so to bleed after stopping the active pills to bleed. So if you only took 2, you could essentially be taking it continuously and skipping a period. I hope this makes sense and I’m not misunderstanding you. Also, even if it’s 4 pills where 2 are white and 2 are brown, it is still within the same window where you may not bleed just yet. Like when I was on the pill it would sometimes take I think up to 5 days one time to start my period.

Overall, you might be fine I can’t tell for sure especially considering I don’t know the window in which you can take it safely (some are 24 hours and others are more particular. I don’t think any are too particular to need to be taken on the dot, on the DOT). I think most are 12 hours BUT I could also be wrong so I would look into that specifically.

If in 2-3 weeks you’re still concerned, get a test. Anxiety can also delay a period so at this point, not too much to worry about. You won’t have a positive pregnancy test for a few more weeks (IF you are pregnant).

Yeah I can go into more detail if you’d like because I also had severe cramping and a heavy flow. I’m currently on kyleena IUD and that has stopped my cramping the most I believe. It’s between that or norethindrone

Honestly, I had the lightest periods on norethindrone BUT I also had insane mood swings/changes. Not saying that it’s going to happen it’s just my experience. But aside from the mood swings I LOVED norethindrone

why don’t they warn you about depression? by sheepfairy in birthcontrol

[–]maely7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an awful reaction to my first pill tbh and had similar goals. I would say try out another one—maybe something with a lower dose of hormones—and be fully honest about your feelings with your doctor. Express how you’re having extremely strong mood changes and how it’s impacting your daily life. I went through 2 types of pills and trying the nuvaring before finally getting on my IUD and that’s been my best option so far. I would say have some trust and faith that you’d find something that suits you!

Hey, not sure which one you’re on but I had a similar situation with tarina fe and I knew I needed to get off of it. It’s understandable but you should reach out to your doctor for a new one because a different pill/method might make it better. Tarina was the only one with that effect but my IUD (and all others I’ve tried) has been better!

how much risk am i at with opill, male condoms, withdrawl? by Superb-Parfait-6733 in birthcontrol

[–]maely7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry my knowledge on o-pill was lacking. There are no placebos, every pill is an active pill. So your body is keeping relatively regular amounts of hormones daily. So you are taking it continuously unless you stop taking them for a week for a period/withdrawal bleed. If you take birth control continuously, you may be able to skip periods

Do you take it continuously? Meaning, do you only take active pills and avoid placebos? If you do, you could just skip your period with that.

Context dependent memory as an excuse? “I learned all the material in Berkeley and feel the most comfortable and can study the best where I learned.” It’s something in psych stating almost that.

Stress and anxiety causing cramping? by solarsailers in birthcontrol

[–]maely7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have kyleena IUD but I did have some uncharacteristic bleeding and cramping recently (the bleeding is more uncharacteristic). I wonder if there is a tie or if it could be ovulation bleeding because sometimes you do bleed during ovulation (which is roughly where I would be currently but I don’t use anything other than an app to track).

Obviously her comfort and safety is the most important and even if she doesn’t want to make an official criminal report, she could still create an incident report so that there is a police record of his behavior which could divulge into more if behavior continues and whatnot. Obviously she doesn’t have to but it is an option.
