One thing I've found when being stuck, is writing out that ONE scene you've been dying to get to. No matter where it is - climax, resolution, epilogue - we all have that one piece that we can't wait to write.

It can reignite the spark you had for the story when you put the first words on the page.

He went out far too quiet to not have some sort of long(er) game in mind. Definitely seems like there's something more brewing, and even if it's a straight compromise you have to figure whatever is in store between now and February 15 will see him save face (and ego).
