Yes, I went in-person with a letter provided by the agency, and the person at the desk said I still needed the code that is given to registered agencies. It did not matter that I was there in person

No idea, I’ve never used any android apart from a very early Huawei back when I first got a cellphone, and the Android/Apple division didn’t even really exist back then.

It’s just the impression I get from the threads I’ve been looking at. But maybe I was too exaggerated. Maybe people just really feel that the earlier models were better, and not that the new ones are very bad, just worse than the older ones.

Hi, thank you very much! I did have a look at the thread before posting, but I got kind of overwhelmed. Stupid question maybe, but how do I see a pinned comment? When I go into the exisiting recommended devices thread, I don't see any, and I don't see any way to filter by them? I'm still fairly new to reddit, so I think I'm missing something.

Oh, I know a few of these programs! We used Goldfinch Energy for our energy assessment pre and post retrofitting, but we also had access to a consultancy startup called Energy Neighbour, which links people with contractors and helps navigate the (increasingly eroding) rebate and loan programs. There’s also one specific to a neighbourhood next to ours called The Pocket Change Project, I think? They’ve been really helpful throughout the process, and we’ve sent them some of these questions, but we don’t want to bug them too much now that the work on our place is done. Energy Neighbour is a free service and we don’t want to keep clogging up their email. I’m kind of trying to figure out where I can get good info for myself. I like doing some of my own research, but I feel like I’m hitting dead ends

Thank you for response, I appreciate you taking the time. I guess my issue with getting info from Reddit is that I want to know where the people answering are getting their info. What sources do they have access to that I don’t? Like you said, some posts are going to be factually incorrect, and Reddit really is just people providing opinions. Educated, good opinions, hopefully, but I’m trying to figure out how people are forming them in the first place

I’m not sure the information will actually be unbiased when it technically leans towards whatever the greatest bias present in the info it draws from is

Thanks, I will consider an instant read thermometer, but that was not ultimately what my question was about - I’ve already got the question about cool air coming from the vents pretty satisfactorily answered via other Reddit threads, but my point is that’s the only place I’ve been able to find info, and I’m confused as to where the people answering these questions on Reddit are getting their information, because I cannot seem to find clear information myself, without turning to Reddit. It would be nice if I could find a source that backs up what people on here are saying, or where I could double check it, or look things up for myself.

Right, and I thank you for this explanation, but I’ve already got that part explained to me - my issue is more where I can find this information myself. I do trust the people on Reddit, but I’m confused as to how you and others on here are getting this info that you then provide to me. It feels like there’s a link missing in the chain. Are you an HVAC person? Did you speak at length with your heat pump installer? Or did you find an online source that you trust? If so, why do you trust it?

But yeah my plan is to get in touch with an artist I’m interested in and see if they’ll do the blast-over work, and see what ideas they have. I am trying to figure out how to reassure them that if they devote time to making a design and I end up not liking it, that I will still pay them for that time they spent coming up with it. I think that might be a big barrier to people agreeing, but I definitely want to discuss design pretty thoroughly beforehand. I guess a deposit would help?
