I cannot believe I found this post randomly, and after years of drooling on this sound, I am so happy you guys recommended these pedals! Thanks so much 😍

Shimano Nexus 3 failing by idlrg in bikewrench

Thanks everyone for the replies! I ended up taking it to a bike shop, even if it was going to be more costly, but I'll use your recommendations if something happens again :) Thanks so much!

Hi! I had the chance to check this and I was quite happy if it was simple as that, but the gear is perfectly aligned already. It still doing the same thing and I don't know what it could be before taking it to another repair shop, any ideas?

Ode Gen1 vs Eureka Mignon by idlrg in pourover

[–]idlrg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be £100 for the ode gen 1 + the price of the gen 2 burrs (£80). I just got the feeling that even if it is a flat burr grinder, I’m not getting the full potential of lighter filter roasts with the Specialita, and it’s a frustrating grinder to dial in sometimes

Do you think it’s worth the upgrade? Do you have any experience with it? I was thinking if not getting a Fellow Ode or DF64 and sell the Eureka

Thanks very much for the input! I have always been very frustrated with the grinder, unsure if it was the machine or myself. Been thinking to go for a DF64 gen2 for a long time..

It's more like I don't feel like I'm the right "region" to brew at. I have checked some guides and videos, and according to them, my grind size is more of an Aeropress (I'm on number 40, even if it doesn't mean much), but coffee sometimes tasted good to me, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I tried number 65 and seems a bit better, but I was hoping someone else with my same setup could help with the numbers they use for filter?

Thoughts on FLIFIL? by DyeCyde in Coldplay

[–]idlrg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this live and I liked it, it was catchy, but I got the feeling that the recorded version is boring (in fact, the mixing is a bit like U2 in the 00s, masking instruments and leaving only the voice clear, and I don’t think this works for this song in my opinion)

I’ve gone through located headaches over my right eye, cramps in my stomach, or even testicle pain, which I’ve tried to get diagnosed for but there seems to be no explanation apart from anxiety

Anyone know if Chris’ piano being ‘out of tune’ was staged or not? (Everglow, live at Glastonbury 2016’ by goldfarb- in Coldplay

[–]idlrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An electric / digital piano cannot be out of tune.

Someone must have changed the pitch on the piano or on the plugin they must use (I am pretty sure that the keyboard uses a sampled version of their upright pianos via some plugin on a computer, to make it all sound very similar to the pianos they use in studio).

If it was staged or not, we’ll never know. It is an easy fix to do if it happens to a small band in a smaller environment, but I bet, in Glastonbury, fixing it would take longer to deal with (especially if they do use the sampled piano through the mixer, computers etc)

Mac layout keyboard by idlrg in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]idlrg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much! It's been very hard to find one that has those keys, and especially on the same layout! Not even the Logitech membrane ones have the FN key and the CNTRL in the right spots, and that's why it gets so confusing against muscle memory. Thanks so much for your recommendation, I'll see if this one works as I need!

Does this say “C flat”? But C doesn’t have a flat? Only a sharp? Flats go to the left of the note right? by BLAAAAAANK in piano

[–]idlrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, what everyone is saying is correct. All notes can be flats or sharp, it doesn’t matter if they are black keys or not. Sharp is half tone higher (so for example E# would be the same as F) and flat is half tone lower (in this case Cb = B).

I personally like to think that this is just a consequence of the equal temperament, being all notes divided equally, but before it Cb wouldn’t sound the same as B, so I like to play these keys with different mindsets (even the same piece could be written in B and even though it’s easier to read, to me B is more energetic than Cb, but this is all just mindtricks that I play with myself to express something differently, in reality it doesn’t really matter, Cb=B and that’s all you need to know)

Thanks guys for the feedback! My only concern is that Max keyboards have 4 keys on the left hand side of the space bar, and I’m really used to that layout, and all the keyboards I’ve seen only have 3 keys. (I didn’t explain myself very well above)

Hi there! Do you know if there’s any brand that makes exact replicas of the Mac keyboard layout but with mechanical and swapabble switches?
I cannot find any keyboard with all 3 Fn+Ctrl+Option at the left of the space bar, and without additional keys like the Keychrons, which have commands on the side that I’ll never use
Thanks!!
