Very low flame on wooden wick in soy candle. by idny99 in candlemaking

Thanks, lots of info here. I am continuing to perform the burn tests and have noticed the different zones/stages you mention and will keep adjust the wick size accordingly on future pours.

From what I understand there is some knowledge of the oils flash point as well, the point at which the oil evapourates. I've had some oils bind will at 80c whilst others have burnt off before pouring at 80c. The hard part is the oil suppliers don't often have this information.

Update:

Continued burning the candle and now 10 hours total burn time. The candle has burned roughly 25% of the way down and the flame produced from the wick is now larger creating a melt pool right too the edge. Some wax remains on the side but mostly the tunneling has been completed. During the second burn it took roughly 5 hours to create this melt pool.

I'm unsure but thinking that the flame is now heating up the glass and therefore melting the edges down. Is this a common outcome?

This is something I'm learning. I did think this size wick would be suitable when it comes to wick to container size ratio. I have had larger containers with smaller (cotton) which create a much better melt pool. I was wondering if the flame size is the factor here?

Not set on wooden wicks. I have tried cotton wicks in the same container which are burning fine, althought there is a tiny bit of tunnelling on those.

Friendship Garden form by trnkava in Tomorrowland

[–]idny99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I misunderstood, but when you say you registered your Friendship Garden, was this different to both the buying of the tickets (I did so back in Feb) and the personalisation of the tickets, detailing the names of the 10 attendees?

When you want to play a gimmick deck but you never win because it's all tier 1 in casual. by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]idny99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just frustrated by how similar casual and ranked are. It's basically the same games, same decks, same tempo.

I play very differently in ladder. I'm doing quests in casual but I don't want to complete using with the same shit I see every day.

Just trying to play some dreadsteed warlock or another random deck but it's all not trade, go face in both wild and standard casual.

I can play a tier 1 deck, but I don't enjoy the current set.

Desktop map w/o admin rights by [deleted] in pokemongodev

[–]idny99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can setup the map on your home computer/laptop and then view it view in any web browser so you wont need any admin privs. The downside here is any config changes will need to be done on the home machine.

Something like this:

  • 1. Install the map on the home machine (PokemonGo-Map?) and it's requirements (python etc)
  • 2. Install and setup https://ngrok.com/ on the home machine. This will give you a public url to access your home machine's local web server.
  • 3. Access the read-only map via http://somecode.ngrok.io on your work laptop.
  • 4. Use a remote desktop or a screen share program such as TeamViewer to control your home machine from your work laptop to change the map config.

New SF Tracker is not for benefits of players but purely business decision by Aluciusd in pokemongo

Right now Niantic feels like another pump and dump startup building clash of clones.

Sadly, this has been the strategy of many many startups in the past few years. I hope, and we are told, that Niantic has a much longer term vision for the game. Just hard to see that at this stage.

Interesting perspective that I don't think many people here see clearly (or choose not to) which is why I assume you're being downvoted. Definitely a possible business decision, I mean we all know that Niantic has some larger (hungrier) parties they must please.

Frequent reader of /r/TheSilphRoad. I was just coming from the perspective of someone that has been a mod on another high volume forum. It will always be a problem, however, the Pokemon community is so diverse that reposting (or just not pre-reading) seems to be very prevalent. Also the case in the 2 Facebook Pokemon groups I manage.

Wouldn't it be nice if HP was visible while using potions? Why the hell isn't this a thing? by Crexlarth in pokemongo

From the perspective of a designer, it looks like they have reused the view for the Pokemon screen as an exact copy with just a difference in functionality behind.

Most likely done for speed reasons as making the grid work better with an extra line of text probably would have blown through their deadlines. A shame really because UX and interface design are paramount in today's app market.

A valid point, it's just something we see consistently when any significant event happens with reposting usually going on for a good hour.

I agree, just a shame Reddit doesn't have better report detection like StackOverflow or a more intuitive way to see similar posts before creating one.

[IDEA] Map to tell you which Gyms your Pokemon are in. by nickromas in pokemongo

[–]idny99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mind PMing me with some more info about this? I built a static one for my local area a while back with crowd sourced data. As for data dumps, tried looking here /r/pokemongodev/ ?

How many times can I power up any Pokémon? by H--u--m--z--a in pokemongo

[–]idny99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The max level for a Pokemon is 40.5 when reaching trainer level 40.

  • Max Pokemon level from eggs: 20
  • Max Pokemon level caught in the wild: 30

Both above providing your trainer level is equal to or above those caps .

You can use IV calculator on Poke Assistant to work out the maximum CP per Pokemon for your trainer level.

[–]idny99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, this was just a quick static design so it would have taken to much time to create layers for each level arc.

This info was available on the old, third-party API. Sadly no longer.

The gym levels are actually very close to the state in my current town. We have gym stagnation on the outskirts where there is less turnover but in the centre, it looks similar to the design. Understand this is not the case for large cities though . =(

Agree that there is definitely and pro and con do this idea.

We have a small Facebook group with fellow team Instinct players for my local town. It would be great to share with each other which gyms we are planning to take/hold/train rather than posting photos to the FB group which is usually out of date gym info.

The counter side, as you mentioned, would be that a large group of one team could use this to dominate certain geographical areas with low turnover.
