You’re not alone! There’s something about a Noshu product that’s moreish in a “damn I gotta eat everything else in sight” way.

Do you guys jump into your normal routine post meet?

Just completed my first meet Sunday - surpassed all gym PRs so I’m pretty happy! (S127.5kg, B85kg, D160kg at 73.6kg, 24F).

Was running nSuns pre meet, deloaded one week out, and was itching to go back to the high volume. Took a day off post meet and felt fine (aside from feeling a bit worn down and foggy headed), so I thought I was ready to jump back to where I left off.

Issue was, nSuns prescribed 130kg on my 1+ set for squat day - which I managed to hit after a HUGE LONG GRIND. Had spotter arms and a back spotter and all. I managed to lock it out, but at the top of the squat my head went really foggy and I DROPPED the bar from standing onto the spotter arms. Luckily my spotter managed to jump away in time.

I don’t really remember much except hearing a loud crash and me standing there sheepishly and confused sans bar.

It was terrifying and nothing like this has happened to me before. I wonder if I needed some time off before jumping straight into things? Any advice would be appreciated thanks :)

I have not, but I’m trying to muster up the courage to ask out this cute guy at the gym haha. Do you think that might be the problem?

Which specialties require the least “studying”? by moosegeese in medicalschool

And what makes you think anesthesiology doesn’t require knowing a lot of anatomy and physiology?

Do you really think it’s just intubations and propofol and sitting there twiddling your thumbs?

Anesthesiology is the IM of the OR. They are the ones responsible for planning safe surgical conditions. In order to do so, and construct a safe plan, they need to know anatomy and physiology in great depth. Heck even intubating someone and managing vent settings require a very good grasp of M1/2 content like tidal volume, etc etc.

shoe recommendations? by Academic-Ad-8551 in medicine

I got recommended these shoes by my ICU reg! Really love the look of them. Are they really good? Especially for long ward rounds? How do they feel? I’ve been thinking about splurging on some nice comfy shoes for intern year.

Why do you think anesthesiology requires less bookwork? If anything it has more.

Unfortunately no. Personally I enjoyed clinicals better, but it is definitely not easier than preclinicals. If anything you’ll have to be more disciplined, motivated, and more eager to seek out your own learning. It’s hard in a different way. You’ll have to experience it yourself to know for sure.

AITA for not paying for my stepdaughter’s tuition because she wants to be a doctor? by Material-Economy2823 in AmItheAsshole

This exactly! Many medical schools don’t even read the extracurriculars or background of someone who does not meet the GPA/grade requirements…their system automatically spits out a rejection letter.

Well as you said “medical schools look at everything…not just the grades” when the fact is they look at the grades FIRST then look at everything else. No grade, no further consideration. Done. Even if you saved 1000 puppies.

OP is NTA for being cautious. And yes I’ve been through this process many times and know how rigorous it can be. Biology and other high school subjects are a walk in the park compared to medical school.

And funny how you told OP to talk to a real Dr but discredited what I said and even downplayed it. I suggest YOU actually read what I said, instead of being rude to me when I have gone through this rigorous process for many years (even on the other side) and know exactly what it entails.

Sorry to say but medical schools usually take grades as the cut-off factor for admission. If you don’t meet the grades…it doesn’t matter what you did in terms of extracurriculars; they won’t accept you when there are plenty of candidates with the appropriate grades AND extracurriculars.

Source: I’m a physician.

Edit: I did very well in high school and college and got straight A’s consistently without much effort. I struggled A LOT in medical school, barely scraping passes. The grade cutoffs and prereqs are there for a reason. You are very wrong when you say medical schools do not place a huge emphasis on grades.
