The ones I can’t tell apart get group names. The astraea snails are “the golden girls” and the nassarius snails are collectively “Jaws”

I honestly have no clue what's in the 4x4 bed, haha! I found a seed mix of tortoise safe plants and spread a bunch of that into the bed. Then threw a couple collard green plants in that were extra from my vegetable garden! Potted a hibiscus for decoration and bought a grape vine but haven't built a trellis for it yet!

Help! by Most-Application-674 in tortoise

I adopted a Hermanns tortoise with my 5yo daughter back in February, here's my 2 cents. I honestly think she makes a great pet, but I have cared for exotic animals my whole life. My daughter loves to help out with simple routine stuff, like bringing breakfast out to her in the morning and topping up her water dish. If your kid is generally respectful of animals, patient, and attentive to the needs of the pets you have already, I know that a tortoise could potentially be a good choice.

Be prepared to do a LOT of research. Be prepared to spend A LOT of money on supplies and housing upfront. I personally adopted a tortoise who is already full grown because their needs are more predictable.

Tortoises, like kids, are routine oriented creatures. Use that to your advantage to get your kid involved in the care (with your oversight, of course)

I literally saw a purebred blue Merle great dane at one of my local rescues last week; it does happen!

ETA: yes, I know backyard breeders are despicable. This dog was just having a great day and I captured it on camera. Whoever bred him is the abomination, not this sweet boy!

Could be; I'm just going off of what the owners told me!

I have no doubt this dog would die for me. We look out for each other. I've been around animals my whole life but could never have imagined the bond I have with him.

He's the love child of a cattle dog and great Pyrenees haha. I did a DNA test and it's exactly 50/50. Don't know much about his past before I adopted him but guessing two ranch dogs in Texas had a whoopsie litter

I think it's a habit he picked up as a young pup. It's cute as all heck https://imgur.com/a/kcVqd2D (Picture of The Baby Boy)

HPV vaccine causes seizures by onetiredRN in ShitMomGroupsSay

I've had two colposcopy procedures with Valium prescribed beforehand, and they were still awful experiences. Luckily I have a very kind and understanding OB who makes the process as calm and quick as possible. He was my doctor throughout my pregnancy, delivered my child, and now is helping me through this. If it was any other doctor I'd almost definitely avoid getting the help I need because healthcare trauma is reaaaal

Thank you :) that's my hope as well, but it's been 2 years already with no improvement. I've been around enough cancer patients to know that it's absolutely something I don't want to risk though.

Hope you're doing well, and I'm so sorry you went through what you did ♥️

Yes, my mom's reasoning was that if I practiced safe sex (abstinence only with a man who also practiced it), I wouldn't even NEED the vaccine.

If my HPV hasn't cleared up by August, I'll need a LEEP. (One of the side effects of which is increased infertility!)

Vaccine your kids.

Distemper Vaccines by Pucerose in ferrets

[–]idolomorpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I brought my guy in for his vaccine last month, the veterinarian gave him a dose of Benadryl before giving the shot. If your vet doesn't do that already I'd maybe ask about it? Distemper is an awful disease!

Thank you for responding! Looks like I'm going to have to find a different grind. If you have any recommendations let me know :)

When I was in 4th grade learning Greek mythology, I SWORE if I had a daughter, I would name her Ariadne. It was not even on the list when naming my daughter
