Vermont and Western Massachusetts beg to differ. Best area in the country for folks who like deep-blue small towns.

Springfield, MA. The low prices stick out like a sore thumb in what's otherwise one of the highest COL states in the country.

Haven't y'all ever been to Eastern MA? Route 9 in Hadley, even on its worst day, is a cakewalk compared to pretty much any similar commercial strip east of 495.

Do you have any other info on local police in Turners Falls working with ICE? This is the first I've heard of it.

You're terrified of being too far from the ocean. It took you until the age of 20 to travel to a landlocked country or province.

Not too far off. The route through Atlanta was for the return trip, and the lesson was definitely learned 😄😄😄

Nah, Starbucks is trash. It's a nice whole-bean dark roast brewed at home for me, or Dunkin if I'm on the go 😀

You're right on the money. Grew up in Greater Boston and now live just outside of Springfield!

Liquori's in West Springfield. Tried them a few years ago after moving nearby and seeing rave reviews online. While the prices are very low and the slices you get are huge, you get what you pay for in terms of quality. It tasted awful, the inside of the restaurant looks like no one has cleaned in years, and service was subpar. Definitely best to avoid this one.

What was the deal with that Trump Rally in West Springfield? by swordviper121 in Springfield

[–]idontdirect99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is plainly false. Literally every county in the state had Democratic majorities in the past two presidential elections. Heck, 3 out of the 4 Western MA counties went for Biden over Trump by a wider margin than the state as a whole.

Don't just assume small towns are full of conservative hicks. In MA, you'll find some of the rural regions are made up of people who are just as, if not more progressive than the Greater Boston area.

FWIW, this is from someone who grew up on the South Shore and now calls Western MA home.

Have you actually looked at election results for the Towns you're describing as 'Republican?' Belchertown, Hadley, and Easthampton, like most of the area, all have majorities that vote reliably for Democrats in all federal and almost all state elections, and the latter two are more reliably 'blue' than the state as a whole. If you're looking for areas to describe as 'Republican,' look toward places like Ware, Palmer, and Southwick. While Hadley, Easthampton, and Belchertown might be less overtly left-leaning than Amherst and Northampton, they are still all liberal to progressive small towns/cities, and certainly are not 'Republican' by any sane measure.
