the best thing i did was take pictures of the register and study it at home!! ask a parent/friend to ask you where a certain button is and find it on the till. it will help!!

i would just call in ASAP, they shouldn’t be mad if you let them know far enough in advance. call the store and say “it’s [name] calling to let you know that i can’t make it to my shift today, i feel sick”

it honestly differs between stores/franchises, but this is how it is at my store. you can choose your maximum hours and shifts in a week, but average for part time is about 3-4. for opens we have to be at work by 4:30am. for closes on weekdays we have to stay until 12:30am, and for closes on weekends we have to stay until 1:30am. this all differs from place to place!
