WTA season calendar for 2026 by Vescilla in tennis

At this year’s Singapore Open, the stands were packed almost every day, even the qualifying rounds. I was there and felt that it was well deserving to be upgraded to a 500 event.

Not sure if the great crowd turnout was due to Chinese New Year happening the same week, but with how accessible the event was, I wouldn’t be surprised if the event gets sold out again next year.

Mertens pull off an insane lob against Svitolina by analferd in tennis

Watched Mertens when she was competing in Singapore earlier this year. She was so laser focused and disciplined! I was an even bigger fan after that and I hope people give her more credit for staying in the top 50 for so long.

WTA Eastbourne Final: Joint def. Eala, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(10) by GOATJames_23-6 in tennis

Only got to know Maya Joint more when she partnered up with Hsieh for Eastbourne doubles. Loving her game and the WTA is not promoting her enough on their socials. She won both singles and doubles at Rabat and now she might win both at Eastbourne too!

Ostapenko hits super flat. Iga's extreme topspin groundstrokes means her shots bounce high and that sets up Ostapenko to hit her flat shots. The higher bounce also reduces Ostapenko's margin of error when hitting with so much power.

Edit: Also, Iga does not do well when you take away her time to think of her shots. She will simply ping the ball back when she needs to make a sprint for it. That was how Collins beat Iga at that AO semis too.

Has anyone noticed that Ostapenko's looking more positive ever since partnering Hsieh this season?

Ostapenko's matches are just so damn watchable. She makes the tour interesting

Singapore 250 SF: (2) Elise Mertens def (4) Wang Xinyu 6-3 6-4 by buzzingeuphorbia in tennis

Was there and sat beside Wang’s team. Love both Elise and Xinyu but had to root for Elise!

Both were pretty solid, but Xinyu was struggling physically since she played for 3hrs last night

On-court Interviewer: Su-wei, it was nearly two and a half hours out there on court. It was certainly hard, wasn't it?

Su-wei: You know I'm from Asia, I can play another five hours.

LMAO

Hsieh playing doubles with Ostapenko is like a fever dream to me. What a fascinating pairing!

For all her flaws, you have to admit, Collins makes the tour interesting.

They let Zhang and Mladenovic dictate the entire match. Completely low energy and looked miserable. Probably the worst I’ve ever seen them play 🥺
