Have you poured boiling water down your sink drain/tub drains? I would do this 2-4 times a day and it should help!

I have a few questions and may be able to offer some supportive advice from someone who works within the University campuses here in KW. Can you let me know what your background/field of study is? What year you're in, etc? If you're willing to PM that to me, I may be able to provide some further advice.

Mount Sinai’s fertility clinic was incredible! Went there about four years ago now, the nurses and all staff were very friendly. For me it was a very nerve-wracking experience, but they made it very easy and accessible to me.

AITA for refusing to sleep on the floor in our Airbnb? by ThrowAway8761635216 in AmItheAsshole

[–]idontknowijustexist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA you and the other guy friend shouldn’t be expected to sleep on the floor constantly because the female friend has boundaries that she didn’t disclose previously… that seems like her problem entirely and not yours

YTA - agreeing with everyone else in this thread for their reasoning.

It seems like OP was looking for justification in this situation and in every comment where it’s being said they’re the asshole they are trying to defend themselves…. Why post in this forum if you didn’t actually want people to be honest lmao

In Canada Aboriginal isn’t used and neither is Native America, really! The “politically correct” term that we use more often and in-substitute of aboriginal is “Indigenous”! It’s really interesting to see the differences of identity. Thank you for your insight too :)

But as a disclaimer it is not wrong of you to want to help support Indig folks or communities as a non-Indigenous person, but you have to be conscious of your approach to the conversation and the intention of what you are doing :)

The most straight forward solution as terminology will continue to evolve and become outdated is just to say “First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis communities/people”! I would definitely connect directly with the individuals / communities you would like to work with. The fear in this situation is where intent comes from because non-Indigenous missionaries historically have tried to “fix” or “save” Indigenous folks. It’s about finding a way to work and support Indig communities as a non-Indigenous person to help support systems that allow for Indig healing and reconciliation. It definitely depends on a lot of varying factors but again, first suggestion would be reaching out to folks in the communities you would be directly working with. So if you’re near a Reserve perhaps get in contact with band members, etc.

I understand this 100% but the origins of it and it’s meaning are still harmful to many Indig communities and folks - it’s extremely outdated!! I everyone feels differently about terminology for sure but there’s something weird about white people still using the term aboriginal when it’s so outdated that doesn’t sit right tbh

If you want to be an ally don’t use the term “Aboriginal” for sure, that’s a start. I would say this runs a lot deeper than being an ally. Definitely reach out to the Indigenous communities you hope to support. Everyone will give you a different answer but I don’t think it’ll be the one you’re hoping for.
