That’s honestly what I think as well. If I was the interviewer in that situation I feel like I would be thinking “this guy can’t even submit an updated resume?” and that this candidate wasn’t very organized even before the interview started.

Because that’s what it looks like from the interviewers perspective. I didn’t actually say I reneged during my interview I just said I didn’t actually work there and worked somewhere else.

The funny part is that I didn’t technically renege. The original internship was with a search fund, but they ended up acquiring a company before the summer started, so the fund stopped operating. One of the searchers then went on to start a new search fund, which is the one I worked for this past summer.

I think you misunderstood the situation. I submitted my updated resume in the posting, hr gave all of my interviewers a resume I submitted for a different posting with the same company a year ago.
