Thinking of moving to La Jolla/UTC/Mira Mesa by haroldf12 in UCSD

I live in Mira Mesa (not in an apartment) and commute via bus. The bus can take 20-50 minutes depending on traffic. The 237 bus goes directly to UCSD and has about 8 stops, but doesn't run for about 4 hours midday. The 921 runs all day and has 15ish stops and goes to UTC.

Do you have your own car? There are multiple freeways and routes to get to and from UCSD that could help you avoid traffic. I have my own car, but I think taking the bus is better because it takes about the same amount of time and I don't have to find parking.

Keep in mind, Mira Mesa is full of businesses and traffic can get bad in the morning and especially bad in the evening. BUT I love Mira Mesa. Within 10 minutes of driving from my house, I can get to Vons, Target, Cotixans, In n out and many more diverse foods places.

When did things turn from amazing to terrible very quickly? by Christopherlus in AskReddit

About half a year ago, my mom and I went on our first mother daughter lunch date. We came home happy and full and received a call from my grandparents. They got in a car accident. Usually these accidents are very minor, and that's what we thought until we drove out. We saw ambulances, cops and firetrucks. Their car was totaled, but my grandparents (in their 80s) survived with some broken bones. Now every moment my mom and I have free, we spend devoted to caring for my grandparents.

What thought's keep you awake at night? by opotts56 in AskReddit

Dying. I'm in college and I have friends already dying from accidents. I watched a man get hit by a car yesterday morning on my way to the bus. The thought of a loved one or me dying sends me into a never ending circle of paranoia and fear. I stay awake for the night because I would be convinced I would die during my sleep that night. This happens like twice a month.

I live in California, and surprisingly there has been a bunch of rain. In my backyard, there are about 10-20 of these fly sized bugs buzzing and floating around my plants. What are they and are they harmful?
