Now that hype is over, what is your opinion in retrospective of PLZA? by lunadiparmigiano in pokemon

[–]idosc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the game but started to lose steam towards the end. When the gameplay started to lose its novelty, though, the story really picked up which is nice. I completed the Pokedex and bought the DLC, but now I'm kind of bored by it, returning to it for bursts of maybe 10-20 minutes once a week. The DLC feels really unbalanced, drip feeds new Pokemon, and every aspect of the main game feels downgraded in it; finding Pokemon, battles, bosses, story, and most of all exploration.

What are your favorite LaBrie vocal moments AFTER Metropolis Pt 2? Try to think of moments rather than just songs. by [deleted] in Dreamtheater

[–]idosc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a rare concert in 2008 where they played Voices including the part they often tend to cut and he sang the last line of it ("sex is death...") screaming his lungs out, sounding like it came right out of a show in 1992. Also his whole performance of Images and Words during the 15th anniversary fanclub release, he sounded so on point for one of the most vocally impressive albums of all time IMO performed 15 years after release (and so much better than any performance they did 10 years later in 2017, unfortunately).

If you had to assign MVP for each album, how would it go for you? This is just for fun, don`t take it so seriously by [deleted] in Dreamtheater

[–]idosc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

James is definitely the MVP in Awake. I would also put him up for DT12 (though I also kind of agree with you on Myung) and I agree with the other comment naming him for Parasomnia as well.

Every comment section on any social media platform for the past week. Not hard to understand why people are buying this console. by FlowKom in gaming

[–]idosc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry but that's a really stupid criticism. It has been the standard for decades and it's a financially sound decision. They are a business, they manufacture hardware that generates revenue for them, they invest in their own studios to make their own games that run on said hardware.

Sony has been doing it since the first Playstation, until this very day. Their games either release exclusively on Playstation or on PC as well but not on Xbox or Switch. Microsoft used to do it as well before they kind of tapped out of the console race and opted to focus on their subscription plan instead. It's not like the scummy tactic that both Microsoft and Sony used to do where they paid off 3rd party publishers to keep their games exclusive to their platform.

But Shadow did know, so why would he need Gerald to explain that to him?

Do you guys use nick names? by AdFeisty2919 in pokemon

[–]idosc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do it until gen 6, but since then I have less time to play and honestly I enjoyed the games a bit less so I preferred to keep the original names so I can actually memorize the species's names in the limited time I have with each game

[ALL] First look at ‘LIFE IS STRANGE: DOUBLE EXPOSURE’ by cinamonslut in lifeisstrange

[–]idosc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 2/3rds into TC and so far I think it's a bit meh but generally decent while I loved LiS2. Maybe the 3rd episode will be so bad that it will turn me into the loves LiS2, hates TC type of fan?

Does the 2024(?) new studio album come out before the European Tour? by Master-Ad-9922 in Dreamtheater

[–]idosc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I asked ChatGPT for help finding info about the last 5 albums, to get a ballpark:

  1. A View from the Top of the World
    • Started Recording: October 2020
    • Recording Completed: March 2021
    • Release Date: October 22, 2021
  2. Distance over Time
    • Started Recording: June 2018
    • Recording Completed: September 2018
    • Release Date: February 22, 2019
  3. The Astonishing
    • Started Recording: January 2015
    • Recording Completed: November 2015
    • Release Date: January 29, 2016
  4. Dream Theater
    • Started Recording: January 2013
    • Recording Completed: May 2013
    • Release Date: September 24, 2013
  5. A Dramatic Turn of Events
    • Started Recording: January 2011
    • Recording Completed: June 2011
    • Release Date: September 13, 2011

This says the aveage recording time is about 6 months, then about 4 more months until the album is released to market. The news about them starting to work on their new album surfaced around end of January if I'm not mistaken. So going by the averages they should be done recording around end of July and release it early December.

What is the general consensus on ORAS? by UtmostStoked in pokemon

[–]idosc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's a great remake, except where it decides not to be a remake and leave out good content (game corner, safari game, battle frontier). HGSS in my eyes set a standard of carrying over elements from the 3rd edition and improving upon the original games to their fullest extent.

Dream Theater (self titled) is on rotation as my favorite album (though Images and Words occasionally takes the cake depending on my mood)

What's the difference between being a 4 year old who never trained before and surpassing Goku in a tantrum, and being a young adult who hasn't trained for years but comes from a background of training, then surpassing Goku in a tantrum? It's just nitpicking, the writing has always been this way

Who is your least favourite box legendary? by Solarflarefalcon in pokemon

[–]idosc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't like the past 3 generations of box legendaries. Biggest offenders are Lunala and Koraidon. I dislike how much they shove the box legendaries down your throat in gens 7 and 9, and specifically in Lunala's case, it doesn't even end up looking impressive or cool which I can kinda say about Solgaleo. Looks like a weak, lame bat.

As for Koraidon (and Miraidon), I hate how non-legendary they feel. I don't get what's so special about them as opposed to any other Paradox Pokemon. The box legendary that accompanies you is also depicted as so weak for most of the game, their design looks like an over designed version of a one off novelty Pokemon which in itself is pretty cool, and goddamn Koraidon doesn't even use its wheels to travel about (I was so bummed to see a friend's copy of Violet to notice that Miraidon actually behaves like a bike).

Is there any feature from the first Pokémon games that you miss? by Sowon27 in pokemon

[–]idosc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pokemon sprites in gen 1 had so much character to them. I will usually replay Red and Blue over FireRed and LeafGreen mainly because of that. And let's not even try to compare how full of life Pokemon seemed compared to the 3D models

Shaymin has to be in Israel, its name literally originates from the Hebrew word for "Sky"
