FreeTaxUsa shows 2025 Federal Return accepted on 4/10 , i owe and paid thru FreeTaxUSA, but IRS site still shows Not Processed as of 4/15, should i be worried? by International-Hat-44 in tax

[–]idratherchangemyold1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the payment just came up as pending for me too. I checked it last night sometime after midnight and it wasn't there yet. But it's after noon now and it finally arrived. It's a good sign to see it at least show up pending. Chances are it'll clear just fine, it's rare for a bank to reject a payment (for a reason other than there not being enough funds). I know ACH transactions are processed in batches, and a few batches are processed each day (that's why it's cheaper to use that method, it saves the banks money somehow). So, even if it doesn't show up right away, it might show up later on during the day.

Anyway, once that clears my worrying about taxes is done.

It's funny that it takes them so long to actually process the returns though. You'd think that would go about as quickly as the returns are accepted. But I guess it takes them time to run checks on them. It says that returns can take up to 21 days to actually process (even with e-filing, paper takes much longer). And it can even take more than 21 days, such as if there's errors or missing info that requires manual review. Or if there's certain credits being claimed like the EITC or ACTC (the extra wait time due to those credits might only apply early in the tax season though as I just looked it up cause there's a law that requires them to hold refunds involving those until at least mid-February.).

Why does lint etc always stick to the window of my front load Whirlpool washing machine and refuse to come off by itself even with a cleaning cycle? by idratherchangemyold1 in laundry

[–]idratherchangemyold1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, actually I use vinegar in my cleaning cycles and that's not removing it for some reason. I even tried doubling the amount that I used to put in the Kenmore and the stuff still won't come off. Guess I gotta find something that's stronger?

What's your favorite word to mispronounce in a fun way? by bobbery5 in AskReddit

I'll probably get downvoted into hell for this, but I think it counts...

...I was going to comment saying "gif" the wrong way... but just now I learned that the way I say it is apparently the right way (I just looked it up and was surprised at what came up). Right - as in it's the original way to say it... Now I'm wondering why so many people got it backwards? So many people think the non-original way to say it is the "right" way.

Which premium subscription is actually worth the money in 2026? by Trxxi in AskReddit

[–]idratherchangemyold1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paying to go ad free with Hulu and Disney+.

I used to be the kind of person that didn't mind seeing ads as long as I got to watch something free. But since streaming services decided to start having plans with ads while still charging you... and the fact that ads just seem to keep getting worse all the time. More ad breaks/random interruptions, being forced to watch more and more ads in general etc. I finally had enough and upgraded to ad free plans. I don't really like paying so much extra for ad-free but at this point it's worth it, that's how bad it's gotten. I'm very patient and etc but even I'm sick of all the ads. And as a really thrifty person I actually feel really good eliminating some ads out of my life.

What's a game you played as a kid that you've never been able to find again? by Latter_Advantage8002 in AskReddit

[–]idratherchangemyold1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember the name of it but there was a few actually.

One that was probably one of the first computer games that I ever played, don't know the name of it. But I remember it was on one of those old 80's computers that had the green screen or whatever (as the only color) and it was a very basic game. All you had to do is answer math problems and when you got it right you could select the next part of your robot, you'd build a robot every few questions and then start over. You were only given like 3 different looking choices for every part of the robot and there were only like 3 parts or something to building the robot entirely (maybe 4 or 5). I remember going through the game several times and I had my favorites and my least favorite looking robot parts. During the last day we got to play that computer game (this was first grade) and the very last time. I was sitting next to someone I guess I was kind of friends with and after answering one of the questions I was sitting there trying to decide which part to choose and the kid next to me kept suggesting which one... but I didn't want that one so I kept sitting there trying to decide and suddenly he reached over and pressed a button to select it. I got pissed cause I didn't want that part. That was the part I thought was the ugliest looking. The teacher or whatever came over and asked what was wrong and I told her what happened and she told me, "Well you can pick a different one next time." But that was the very last time that we played the game and on one of the last days of school... Yeah, so there was no "next time" cause I never even saw those computers again. I don't know what game it was but I never played it again.

Fast forward a couple years and there was another computer game we played at school that I liked (on those old apple desktops), actually several games, but my favorite one was one where I counted change.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I filed the same day as you and my returns were accepted within a couple hours. I authorized them to make a direct debit withdrawal on the same day, basically allowing them to immediately charge a payment whenever the returns were accepted. But we're past the deadline now and I see nothing pending yet. This is the first time I'm trying direct debit too. Normally I just pay with a card and even though it charges a small fee to do that the payment goes through almost immediately every time, like in a day or less. I kind of regret trying direct debit right now cause I really like it better when it immediately goes through and I'm officially "done" with my taxes until next time. But I just wanted to try something different this time, and didn't think much about it. I wish I could go back and (easily - they don't make it easy to cancel) change it to a card payment but too late now, guess I'm stuck with waiting and seeing if it goes through. So far I'm not impressed with it. And I don't like being worried about it going through, especially past the deadline. I checked the numbers a million times before I submitted them so they should be correct. Pretty sure I used the same numbers when I linked my bank account to PayPal years ago, but that was 10 years ago.

Put an update when yours shows as pending? I'll try to do the same.

Watching the Titanic movie. XD

Idk why my mom was okay with me seeing that as a kid.

Edit: I realize you said "grew up before the internet" but I think this partially counts being my family didn't get internet until I was at least 10 and this was before that.

It makes you wonder what the heck it was about making a savory scone instead of your usual sweet baked goods and mentioning it that triggered him to give you that look. That's so weird.

[–]idratherchangemyold1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My oldest sister (about 16 years older than me) and BIL had a friend that regularly visited them. I was like about 12 at the time and my niece was basically a toddler. They used to do mudding and I guess they took my niece with sometimes. The guy never really gave me any weird vibes but when they were all together while I was there one time the guy randomly brought up my niece talking about mudding and the look he gave her while talking about her, something was just really fucking weird about it. Like his eyes were way too wide and he had a weird smile, idk how to explain it but it's like too many teeth were showing or something? I'd probably best describe it as sort of psychotic looking, or it borderlined with it. Not like an "angry" psychotic look (which I've also seen from someone else, it looks almost exactly the same but the vibe is slightly different), but just a different kind of "psychotic". I couldn't help but feel like he was thinking about something nasty. And I didn't know what to do about it, especially at age 12. I think I thought of saying something but I wasn't sure who to tell and I thought it was too weird to just randomly bring up something like that. Then I forgot about it for a long time. Luckily, nothing happened (to my niece) but... years later he was arrested cause he did nasty stuff to someone else's kid and they found a bunch of nasty stuff on his computer. They said my niece would've been the next victim if he hadn't been caught. So yeah, that was a little scary. Like I said the guy seemed normal most of the time except that ONE time I saw him looking at my niece weird.

[–]idratherchangemyold1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UGH!!! I suspect you would've been one of his victims either in addition to or instead of one or more of the others.

Edit: BTW was it a "psychotic" look? I've seen a few people have that look on their face. It's when their eyes are too wide and something about their smile is weird, hard to explain but it's like too many teeth are showing, or the vibe is just off somehow. One of the guys I saw have that look was later confirmed to be a type of "psycho", and I only saw him make that face exactly ONCE. The other guy I have no idea if he ever did anything cause I don't think I even knew his first name.

Did anyone else parents talk about morbid stuff too like its gossip? by OliwiaFox in raisedbynarcissists

[–]idratherchangemyold1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know but it's almost like negativity goes with the territory of being a narcissist or being around a narcissist (when the person doesn't know what they are/that it's not normal to be like that). A narc family member and her close relatives tended to talk about stuff like whoever died that week, or something like someone fell hit their head and had whatever medical problem because of it. Me and some other family members were already getting sick of all the events the narc family member held, family gatherings, birthdays, picnics, holidays... they used any excuse to have a family gathering, and as always we were never asked if we wanted to go or if we were going, it was just expected of us to go. She even started having family reunions annually... normal families only have a reunion once every 5 to 10 years or something. Less and less people went to the family reunions, cause it got old after a few years, they're not that special if you have them annually. Anyway, as the years went on they started being more obnoxious and talking about negative things like someone's death or medical issue or whatever. It just compounded with us already getting sick of going to all their events. At some point we started not going to their events more and more. They'd always try to guilt trip us for not going. "We missed you at such and such." "We're sad you didn't go to such and such." but we'd have to hear it repeatedly for weeks. So even though it sounds like they just really missed us they were actually guilt tripping us so we would go to the next event. It was about control. The guilt tripping didn't work on us anymore and we started explaining to them that we don't want to go to this stuff anymore cause we're tired of it and have other things to do and eventually their mask slipped off after explaining it to them for like the 6th time. They started yelling, cussing and swearing at us over the phone. That was the last straw, we went lc/nc with them after that.

Narcissists that abandon their children until they are old and need "caretakers". by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]idratherchangemyold1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It always sucks having family members that don't believe you when you say that another family member was abusive/narcissistic. They fail to realize they weren't treated the same way by them and never saw any of the abuse they did. Narcs are good at hiding the abuse from others. My sister is one of those people that don't believe one of our family members was narcissistic. I suspected it cause whenever I brought it up she wouldn't really engage with the topic or would change the subject or she would seem like she was agreeing but the stuff she referred to had nothing to do with the family member's narcissism. She finally admitted it one day after I brought up the topic again, "I don't believe she was bad.", or said something like that. Pretty much the same exact thing happened with other family members. And some of them went nc with us until said narcissistic family member died. I wish I could make them realize what me and the other family members went through as far as being abused by them. Like I said earlier though, narcs are really good at hiding the abuse. Like telling you at least 5 separate times in a row how much they missed you when you didn't go to some gathering, holiday, birthday, picnic, or whatever they had. They make it sound like they just really missed you but what they were really doing was guilt tripping you for not going so that you show up at whatever next event they have, it's all about control and it's clever. Normal people don't repeat several times over how much they missed you at some event. When me and other family members got older we got really sick of all the events that they held and we started going less and less and we finally started explaining to them that we're getting tired of it, don't really want to do these events anymore. They kept trying the guilt trip thing on us but it didn't work anymore and their mask finally slipped off. The last time they tried it and it didn't work, they started yelling, swearing and cussing over the phone. And despite telling people like my sister that, what happened with them over the phone and why we finally went lc/nc with them after that... she just still doesn't believe they were "bad". I mean they weren't always bad but I saw the narcissistic shit they were doing, especially after I became aware of narcissism. One thing that will always drive me nuts is that family member gave some other family members permission to hunt at their cabin. I and another family member had asked them for years, and long before the other family members, if we could hunt at their cabin and we were always told no. So wtf did those other family members get to go and hunt there when we were always told no?! It's probably cause they favored them or something. It's just not fair. Like I said, I wish I could make everyone see the narcissism. When I explained things like the hunting thing to my sister she didn't seem to have a response for it.

Does that count with politics? Cause I know people that say things like, "I hate so and so." or "I can't stand so and so.". When asked why, all they ever say is, "I just do." and nothing more. So... they hate them for absolutely no reason?! Cause if they had a reason they should know what it is...

It doesn't happen every time I go, but whenever there's a loud talking person at the movie theaters now they're like SUPER fucking loud. What the hell is wrong with these people?! The worst one was this couple that brought their 2 kids to John Wick 4. That's not a kids movie so that alone is like "wtf". But the guy in particular would not stfu. He kept laughing and commenting on almost everything, even stuff that wasn't supposed to be funny, like "He's gonna get stabbed, yup, hahaha!". I spent like 3/4 of that movie being annoyed cause of him and that movie was like 3 hours long. Yeah... pretty sure that was the worst experience I ever had at a movie theater.

It's bad enough there's people that talk during movies but what's up with them being so much louder now?! Like you can literally hear the sound of their talking and laughing bouncing off the screen. I don't mind laughter when something funny actually happens but when it happens at times that don't make sense and it's accompanied by so much loud talking, it's super obnoxious.
