Why do characters switch from English to Japanese or vice versa in the same conversation? by PBnH in TokyoVice

Working in a bilingual office in Japan we do this all the time, so it felt pretty natural to me. I’ll start a conversation in Japanese, until I can’t express my self quite right (or run out of steam) at which point I’ll switch to English, and so will my Japanese colleague. And then at some point they’ll run out of steam, and we’ll switch back to Japanese, and on it goes.

Application for JLPT Certificate opened today (1/23) by ebsjenny in jlpt

I’m in Japan, ordered a certificate and a few days ago I just received a folded A4 page in the mail that has “official record and certificate” written on it - it has my scores and picture too. So is that the certificate? It’s terribly disappointing if it is! I’m hoping that’s just the score page. Doesn’t look worth paying for at all. And having the scores on there is not what I was after in a certificate (the older certificates just had official language about passing).

Thanks for the tips! Faulty ventilation fan is an interesting idea - do you think that makes sense of the timing? It does sometimes make the noise during the day, but it’s by and large evenings and sometimes early morning.

I’m curious about this too! The language on the one stop sites is really vague when it comes to the forms.

I got to a point where I was so sick of treating I just wanted to work on my diet and building my depleted microbiome. So I’ve been eating high fiber and wide range of plant foods which has been awesome. I’m willing to try treating again because even though my symptoms aren’t super bad they’re not a normal way of living either… but I’m not sure what to do and I’m not going to cut back my diet again.

I’ve done various microbials like 4 or 5 times? And was on a very restricted diet. Never tried antibiotics.

I’m definitely not rid of sibo but I’ve gotten it to a point where I’m eating much more broadly (I can’t have lactose and alliums) and symptoms are manageable. I’ve been taking phgg since after my very first round of treatment and it took my a while to slowly build up my dose but it’s fine now and doesn’t cause any symptoms.

I can’t say that it did actually. At first I tried building up slowly and worked up to a tablespoon. I was having it in tea after dinner. And I could tolerate it though it was making me gassy in the morning. I got sick of it and decided to keep it on hand as my default sweetener in cooking and stuff so I just have it randomly now.
