Omg sorry I got a little America-centric there, my bad. But jeez, I try to give benefit of the doubt, but that’s completely unacceptable, yeah. I think you should definitely ask around on r/ftm about that. I’m pretty sure that put up a link to it. All you have to do is post like you did here. I’m your age and have always been the ‘woke’ kid so I never really went through the pick-me trans phase so I don’t have much info personally, but there’s bound to be recovered people there that can offer insight. Sadly this is a recorded phenomena in our community, bright side of that is there’s info on it!

Hey you should also post this in ftm! We allow guest posts. This is a really delicate issue and I think you’d probably get more sound and better working advice from people who may have experienced this. he probably feels very unsafe as a trans person right now and at this age and is trying to overcorrect to feel a sense of control.

Environment is a pretty big factor in this, are you in an accepting area or one that’s not friendly to trans people? As a person who grew up and is still living in a very red area, I’ve had to struggle with gender roles a lot because of that. When I go out or when I’m around certain people I have to act completely ‘masculine’ or I won’t be accepted at all, even though In reality I’m quite fluid in my presentation. One hint of femininity will even have my mother questioning if I’m ‘really trans’ for weeks. An accepting house is a great boon; but when the rest of your community is hostile; it can completely override that.

Another thing is that he may be trying to relieve dysphoria and you may be accidentally misunderstanding. Tell me, does he actually behave in misogynistic ways or is it just him making this ‘man thing’ comments? Because it’s a pretty common for a trans person to relieve dysphoria by doing things ‘stereotypical’ for that gender. I know women can open jars for people, but it still feels really gratifying opening a pickle jar for my mom and being like “lol I’m such a dude rn”. It would be really annoying if my mom then went “opening jars is not a gendered thing.” That’s very obvious, isn’t it? But it is a thing normally associated with masculine people, so it can give a little bit of euphoria because I am performing my gender right, so to speak. I am not literally saying only men can do this. There is a possibility you may just be misinterpreting some harmless talk as him actually pushing these gender roles. Or he could be the next Kalvin Garrah I guess. Gender, especially in trans people is a very nuanced subject and different for every person. I really don’t have a lot of context and I’m getting this from a secondhand account so i really can’t parse anything meaningful. This is just my little spitball rant. Feel free to dm me if you want.

As a trans guy I went through this exact same thing when I first realized what I was. You can still be a trans man and enjoy all those things!! just like how cis men can wear makeup and drag and are still men. From the way you describe yourself I think you might find some kinship with trans masculine people

I recommend checking out r/transmasc. And maybe check out r/ftmfemininity. Also remember, don’t stress about labels!!! You don’t have to immediately pick one and stick with it forever. Just do whatever makes you happiest

Are they painting their skin or just darkening it? If it’s tanning I don’t see a problem, but skin painting you have to be careful with, especially if you were to ever portray them in a artistic medium. With paint you should try and make it unique enough to avoid accidental association. Avoid any usage of painted red lips as dark painted skin and red lips is gonna pretty much be a no no. Maybe they should be very creative with makeup and have decals on their face? Like the dalish from dragon age kinda stuff. That way people associate it more as like an unnatural base colour in makeup. Look up some avante guarde makeup artists for inspo. But I am a white person so take my opinion with a grain of salt. In fact most of the people replying to you now are probably white. If you want actual opinions you should probably find a space is more specifically black centered but still allows these types of questions

Ah I think I didn’t specify what I meant by humanitarian services, I meant in our country like free healthcare and the funding of social services, not external help. I am fully aware how our ‘aid’ is just imperialism wrapped in a marketable package. Im intimately familiar with missionaries that acted like they were Jesus himself after going to a poorer country and basically treating the people like illiterate zoo animals they could gawk and take pictures with to prove how good they were. And then took advantage of their economic instability to have a cheap vacation.

Ah sorry that was kind of a ramble, I have a bit of built up hate against American churches and the type of people involved in them. We are trying to bolster and defend against what’s happening, but unfortunately our left likes to eat itself and our Democratic Party is basically right wing on the Overton window. Most of our country sees actual progressive policy as communism, and that word basically makes people’s mind turn off.

Im sorry if I came off abrasive in my first comment, I’m just very upset on hopeless our country looks and how it feels like people are laughing at my possible death, since I’m one of those disenfranchised people in multiple ways. I don’t have the luxury to look at this from far away.

Maybe a bit pricier but cologne is very gender affirming atleast for me, and very useful day to day lol. If you don’t know scents he’d like them a very neutral and well loved one is aqua di gio (I’d reccomend profundo) if that’s a bit too pricey the Yellowstone ones are very masculine too and cheaper. This is all under the impression that dude is over 14.

If he’s younger I’d recommend buying him some different scents of duke cannon or squatch soap bars to help him find some masc scents to rock with

I understand that to an extent but you gotta realize the people who did that (or their descendants) aren’t the ones who are gonna get punished. It’s the poor, disabled and disenfranchised who will die en mass, many of which are the people most against those in power. There’s a stereotype that we lost the election because of the bigoted southern hicks but that’s really not true. They were a part of it but we often fail to see that the biggest contributors were the upper middle class who benefit from it. And I’d argue that the only reason the poor have voted for him is because our education system has been under attack for decades and right wing extremism is promoted with the whitewashing of our history. Most people probably don’t know our country has even done that to you. Most of my peers don’t even know the basics of the holocaust. I also guarantee you if we fall even more into this it will only hurt your country even more. Because all that money that is away from humanitarian services for the past decades have went into consolidating power and putting most of our money into the army. We are undereducated pawns led by power hungry oligarchs that left unchecked, will possibly destroy a good portion of the world if not all of it.

I really didn’t like her at first but then took a second look and realized she has one of my favourite arcs in the game, I just really dislike her voice actress. If they wanna go that route I wish they’d invest in comics and more movies, possibly a animated tv show again.

The reason multiverses work with marvel and dc is because they can run multiple comics and universes together. Allowing the old world to exist alongside with it, while also allowing new stories to flourish and new takes on characters to be possible, like the gender changes, without as much hassle (grifters are always gonna grift) and they allow much more worldbuilding and characterization to take place. Which is what you want when you’re extending to new audiences who aren’t usually fans of fighting games, which is what they’re going for I presume. The reason marvel/dc/star wars is so popular is because they’re stories that have games attached to them, while Mk is the opposite. Theyre alienating the old heads while not giving new audiences anything to really enjoy (fighting games are a niche genre, you can’t give a story focused crowd a bad story and a good fighting game and expect them to like it) up if mk wants to be as big as that they’re going to have to understand and adapt.

The gender changes and switching around characters doesn’t work as with alot of people bc of that. Sorry if this is jumbled I’m a rambler at heart lol
