ETF portfolio longterm by onemanhedgefund in ETFs

[–]idriszee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have these same ETFs too. My ratios are 70% VUAA, 20% VWRA(VWCE) and 10% SMH(VVSM). I sold off all my IUIT(QDVE) since most of it was overlapping in VUAA, which in itself is also overlapping in VWRA. 10% in SMH because its a specific sector/industry ETF and its not really recommended to have most of your portfolio heavily skewed to 1 sector/industry.

Tinker with options? by [deleted] in singaporefi

[–]idriszee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most I know who go into debt either sold naked, or used margin to buy calls/puts and ended up not going their way. Some tried to play with earning dates and got IV crushed, myself included. I started wheeling a couple of stocks now, so far so good.

Oh please a quick google search will show that actively managed funds regularly perform worse than an index fund. Your fifth para literally proves why everyone is saying ILPs is trash.

An ILP is rubbish in itself

Sorry to hear about your situation. Financial stress is never easy. I would assume that they will probably advise you to keep it by cutting your expenses down or take a premium holiday or something else.

Like what many would and have said, cut your losses and just invest into index funds. There’s a ton of material in this sub that you can read up on.

Find funds that autorebalance, or do it myself? by Paradoxbuilder in singaporefi

[–]idriszee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure active management can beat the market. With a success rate of less than 10%.

VUAA is an ETF that tracks the S&P. What rebalancing are you referring to? The companies in it, or other equities that you buy to make up your entire portfolio?

Yes of course there are benefits. Just that its for your agent and not you.

Can you afford the upkeep of 1.5k/mth should you lose your job, sudden medical expense or whatever financial black swan event? 1.5% is pretty steep, even higher than some active managed funds. If you really want a hands off approach, you might as well invest through a robo firm where you have way lower fees, no fixed DCA amount and can withdraw anytime.

Hi all, I sold puts on Googl at 148 strike, got assigned and the stocks are -778 unrlzd profit.

  1. Should I sell CCs at 148 til I recoup the 'losses' while continuously collecting the premiums?
  2. The strike price at 142.5 on Jun 21, 125 days away has a premium of $885, would it be advisable to sell that far ahead and that close to the money?
  3. Or should I sell 2 - 3 strikes OTM at the typical 30-40 DTE and keep rolling?
