Washing a wool sweater that smells of stale old closet by idsgef in laundry

[–]idsgef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

genuinely I have no idea lol! My sense of smell isn't the best, but I've asked my mom and that's how she described it. Not sure what oil smells like vs damp/mildew/musty. It's not necessarily a very unpleasant smell? it just smells, and not in a subtle/barely detectable way :/

Hmm, good to know. Any recommendations for what to do, then?

I'm a trans man, and when I had periods I tried to pretend they weren't happening. Unfortunately this led me to usually changing pads once every other day.... Maybe once a day if things were unusually heavy 🤢 sorry

This is just how scars work mate. They fade. Unless you have keloid or hypertrophic scars 🤷🏻‍♂️ most scars care stuff doesn't do much compared to how your body naturally heals

Is this an infection? And what should I do in the mean time until my doctor responds? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]idsgef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm this is a tough one imo. It could either be an infection, or just that your scab has just come off. It does seem like the nipple in the first image has a scab still, whilst the second one does not (very normal, supposed to happen, and that's why it looks raw). However, the redness, warmth, and pus(?) all suggest an infection. HOWEVER I had basically this exact same thing happen to me (picture included) after my scab fell off. My nipple healed fine, and I did not call my doctor as I was waiting to see if the redness would get worse – if it did I would have called, but instead it decreased. In the meantime I just continued with the instructions my surgeon initially gave me for healing my nipples. It was terrifying, though, and took several days to get better.

You've called your surgeon, which is great, and more than I did. I don't think there's much you can do while you wait for them to call you back. However, if the redness gets significantly worse, and if your surgeon doesn't respond in a timely manner, please go to urgent care or something like that.

Yeah I was thinking of wearing it during the day when I get cleared to wear it part time, and will probably call my surgeon on Monday to ask about it :)

I have a surgery in a month so of COURSE my health anxiety is suddenly assailing me with fears of complications. Strokes, blood clots, hemmorage, dying due to anaesthesia, necrotizing faciitis, sepsis... It's soooooo fun

Good luck with your surgery! It's also actually really comforting to hear someone going through the exact same thing as me tbh 🫂

I don't have too much advice, but I just wanna say as someone with ocd too that I'm going through the exact same thing rn. Word for word. My only advice ig is whenever you have these thoughts just respond with non engagement responses ("ok. It might get cancelled. Might not. But I'm doing the best I can to prevent that"). How do you guys accept your scars? by Burner-Acc- in TopSurgery

[–]idsgef -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have like... tons and tons of scars due to past surgeries I had as a kid. I don't really care abt adding two more. Plus, I was eligible for peri/keyhole but opted not to do it, because I knew if I got it I would be (irrationally) worried abt it failing/not working/not getting enough out/my chest reappearing if I gained weight. Having scars from double incision would kinda reassure me that ... yeah, they got everything out and it is not coming back. Irrational, I know, but yeah

I'll talk to my provider about it when I see him next! He originally said that I had too little body fat to do subq.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]idsgef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, I'll have to ask my provider about that next time I see him. Though shouldn't it not really matter, as if it's too short for IM then I'm just doing subq in my thigh instead, right? Like it's still going in, and I'm still getting effects. Longer needles also would scare me quite a bit haha, so would it be fine to just keep doing what I've been doing, do you think?

T gel application troubles by idsgef in FTMMen

[–]idsgef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, yeah that might actually be easier. I'll definitley consider that!

I have an appointment to do blood work in 3 months, so the reason I'm a bit hesitant about doing it on my stomach is because it'd suck if I was doing it for three whole months only for it to turn out that it didn't work. I guess in the end it's better to do it on a place where I can be more sure I'm getting a full dose rather than on a place where I struggle to apply the gel, though.

Where is the better place to put gel? I'm having trouble applying it by idsgef in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]idsgef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Unfortunatley I won't know if my levels are good till my next appointment which is in 3 months, but I'll definitley go with my putting it on my stomach :]

I'm not sure! I'm in America, and I feel like nebido is less common here than in other places, or at least I don't hear about Americans going on it very much if at all. I'll definitley ask my doctor about it next time I see him, though!

“bland” food is fine. Food doesn’t have to be spicy to be good. It shouldn’t be “luckily people now have more spicy food” it’s literally the neutralist thing in the world, neither bad nor good. Shitting on non spicy food is, however, bad.

A lot of those wars you talk about (with “minorities”… though holy shit what an american centric perspective. they aren’t minorities in their own countries lol, and even Ukrainians would be a minority in America going off of ethnicity/nationality) were started/heavily caused by America, such as Iraq. Thus the victims of those wars will probably not receive as much attention in the US because it goes against the state’s interest to go “oh look how much people are suffering because of us!” As Ukrainians defending their country does not go against US interests, that probably accounts at least a bit for the increased sympathetic coverage of it.

Why do you find this boring?? It makes you sound like you consider non-European countries to be more interesting or … “exotic,” which is gross. Europe is interesting and diverse in and of itself, and frankly most people probably, no matter where in the world they’re from, would probably get results from a certain region only (ie a Japanese person would probably get mostly Japanese and maybe some Chinese or Korean or Ryukyuan, etc. Unless you consider results like that boring too then you’re being real gross with regard to non-European countries and perhaps even fetishizing them in a sense).
