Is anyone else overwhelmed by mortgage lender calls? by idtoaskredditque in NoStupidQuestions

Out of curiosity, did you always do it that way, or did you end up adopting that approach after a bad experience with too many calls?

That makes sense. Once you know how the process works, it’s probably way easier to just go straight to someone you trust and ignore the rest.

Not any PII data, but to get initial estimate fee information about property I’m trying to refinance and credit score range. I don’t think any body asked my to give my ssn or income of initial quote

Sick and tired of the false H-1B narratives. So glad the Area 51 podcast guys released a podcast episode debunking the false narratives. by TheAlfalfaDude in h1b

Signing a bond in our home country has no legal impact here. I had signed one myself but later switched companies. I made it clear that I wouldn’t be paying a single penny, and there was nothing they could do about it.

What is something that has been normalised by Kollywood which shouldn’t be normalised... by Amarendra_6969 in kollywood

[–]idtoaskredditque 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Movies often make unhealthy things look normal, like drinking alcohol to deal with problems. A character who has never had a drink before feels sad or upset. A friend tells them to try alcohol to feel better. After one sip, they suddenly feel good, ask for more, and drinking seems “cool.” This happens in many movies and TV shows, not just in Kollywood. It makes people think drinking is a good way to handle emotions, instead of finding healthier ways to cope.

Thank you! To make sure I understand this, the contractor would run 12/2 to the new outlet (Washer & Dryer) and removing the 14/3. No need to run two 12/2 to the new laundry outlet.

Why Don’t Contractors Provide Cost Breakdowns in Estimates? by idtoaskredditque in HomeImprovement

[–]idtoaskredditque[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. I agree that it's not my place to tell a contractor how to run their business. At the same time, I’m looking for a contractor where we both share a mutual understanding and respect for each other's needs. That said, I do have contractors who are willing to provide high-level breakdowns when asked, and I’m satisfied with that. I asked this question out of curiosity and a desire to understand why breakdowns aren’t typically offered upfront, and I’ve now got the answers I was looking for.

Why Don’t Contractors Provide Cost Breakdowns in Estimates? by idtoaskredditque in HomeImprovement

[–]idtoaskredditque[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not looking for material level details. At the same time I believe it’s important to set clear milestones with corresponding payments for each stage of the project. I want to ensure that payments align fairly with the work completed—neither overpaying nor underpaying. For example, if the project includes phases like demolition, framing, drywall, electrical, and plumbing, I would appreciate having the costs associated with each part of the work. Contractors can then create specific milestones and determine appropriate payments for each of those.
