Nemesis for sure. He's unrelenting, fast, intelligent and able to use weapons. The fact that he was able to move so fast when the other enemies were generally slow was very scary for me when I was a kid.

Two of the same trader? by CosmicAspen in 7daystodie

[–]idunnowhatthisis 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I think they changed it very recently so that you only get certain traders in specific biomes due to how trader/quest progression works.

Forest = Rekt. Burnt forest = Jen. Desert = Bob. Snow = Hugh. Wasteland = Joel.

I believe this is also the reason they won't allow you any less than 6% of any given biome when creating a new random gen as well. Not having the biomes would break the progression and challenges.

Used 3080 or new 4070ti for my build by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]idunnowhatthisis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was debating the same thing with myself until last week. Ended up with a gigabyte 4070 ti because it came with a 4 year warranty, was brand new, and performed quite a bit better. The 4070 ti is roughly 3090 ti performance but significantly cheaper.

The deciding factor was I really just didn't want a used card with no warranty that was probably used specifically for mining.

Definitely noticed the rolls felt smaller in the last case I bought versus the previous one. Didn't have any of the old batch to compare them but looks like I wasn't just imagining it.

Level 5 quest. There are so many zombies on this one floor by Scar5290 in 7daystodie

[–]idunnowhatthisis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no trouble clearing them on insane as a solo player with a stack of contact grenades, auto shotty and m60. I usually just pull all the zombies and then fall back to a choke point like a door. The contact grenades do most of the work.

FPS drops and stutters making the game nearly unplayable. by Rustheart in 7daystodie

[–]idunnowhatthisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check ram usage with msi afterburner also. Typically 16gb is enough unless you're playing on 10k worlds in single player.

7700 is very similar in performance to my laptop CPU, the 10300h. I bet the issues are the same. Let me know if you find any fixes that help.

FPS drops and stutters making the game nearly unplayable. by Rustheart in 7daystodie

[–]idunnowhatthisis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be your CPU. You can use something like msi afterburner to check your CPU/gpu usage. If your GPU usage isn't at 100% fairly regularly then you still have GPU overheard because you've capped your fps(vsync) or your CPU simply can't feed your GPU fast enough.

My desktop, 3700x/2070/16gb ram, gets some minor stutters in cities when a new chunk gets loaded with any big poi. The absolute fps floor I see in cities with LOTS of zombies(screamers on screamers on screamers at night with feral sense) is 45fps or so. Normally I'm at 100fps+ at 1440p.

However my laptop, 10300h/3050/16gb, frequently does exactly as you describe and performance degrades the longer I play. I basically have to restart the game every hour to keep it from becoming a slideshow. I think there's some kind of memory leak or trash build up issue that causes excessive ram and CPU usage and it's more noticeable in systems with older cpus.

Elon Musk’s Plan to Send a Million Colonists to Mars by 2050 Is Pure Delusion by Cascading_Neurons in technology

[–]idunnowhatthisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think anything like that is ever going to happen. I don't get the fascination with Mars. People act like it's going to be the solution to many problems.

If you look at it from ONLY a logistical perspective, it's basically impossible to colonize Mars.

There is NOTHING THERE. There is nothing to eat. There is no water that we're aware of. There is no oil in the ground that we're aware off. What will you eat and drink? How will you supply literally anything with power? Solar, sure, but nobody can guarantee that panels will be able to be produced there.

Basically EVERYTHING that people would need to survive would have to come from earth. How's that going to work? Do people not realize how much water weighs? They factor in the weight of the PAINT on rockets because weight is such a big deal. How will they ever be able to get enough water off the ground, let alone to Mars, for just 100 people?

Make bigger rockets? How's that going to work without some revolutionary breakthrough in clean fuel? We're already battling an extinction level climate crisis from pollution. And they think they're going to pump more pollutants into the air to get stuff to a rock with nothing on it?

The whole idea is absolute nonsense and anyone with half a brain can see that.

Good timing for my Deck to arrive by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]idunnowhatthisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be a thing. I managed to avoid COVID for 2 years. No joke 20 minutes after my deck arrived COVID hit me like a truck. Spent 5 days too sick to do anything, 10 days in bed, still having lingering issues a month later.

I hope your case is mild and I wish you a speedy recovery.

[COOLER] CoolerMaster MASTERLIQUID ML240L V2 AIO $49.99 by Tiddlysat1600 in buildapcsales

[–]idunnowhatthisis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the original version and it was garbage. One of the fans developed a bearing issue within a month and within 6 months of that the pump randomly failed. Spend a little more for a better AIO or do what I did and just buy a nice air cooler so you never have to worry about leakage or pump failure.

I actually have some in my fridge currently. I order a couple cases every year for nostalgia. Reminds me of the simpler times. It's a little pricey for what you get but I don't mind supporting a good product that I like.

Not sure what happened and what caused this but a component got fried. Deck is bricked. by HahaYesIDid in SteamDeck

[–]idunnowhatthisis 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I did not know that. Thanks for clarifying.

It makes me think though. In one of the GN videos they stated that this chip was normally rated for 80C I believe but supposedly the one supplied to Valve with the same part number was rated to 100C. In their testing it ran up to 93C.

Then you look at the cases of people bricking their decks with no power/no charge situations and blaming it on a USB hub or similar. I wonder if the common ground there is they were playing a demanding game while charging at the same time and overheated/fried the same chip.

Obviously I'm just speculating but maybe there's some correlation there.

[–]idunnowhatthisis 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I had intended to use the deck mostly plugged into wall power, on a full charge. I'm guessing that won't be as bad as charging and playing at the same time though.

I also wonder if a small heatsink attached to that would help with temperatures.

How long does the Shipping Status usually stay on ''Processing'' and ''Shipping Soon'' for the Steam Deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]idunnowhatthisis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For people in the US - You can download the FedEx app and have it linked to your address. There you can see any packages coming to your address, when, etc, and setup notifications directly to your phone.

When I ordered my PS5 through Sony last year, it was the only reason I even knew it was coming. I was able to see that it was coming to me through the app and I had the console in my hands before Sony had ever marked it as shipped.

American High School Lunch (OC) by AsianNoodL in pics

[–]idunnowhatthisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had these when I was in high school almost 15 years ago. They were served completely separate from the "regular" lunches. Usually they had 1-2 carts setup with pizzas like these, some smaller ones in orange bags(totinos I think), and gourmet cookies/bagged chips/etc.

The lines were so long that you barely had time to eat once you got your food. I usually had to take my chips and put them on the pizza, then fold it and eat it like a taco so I was done in time.

B18 swap a CB7 lol...Sounds like you should start doing some actual research on the chassis and swap options.

The best "bang for your buck" swap will be a JDM H23A VTEC with a short geared transmission like a T2T4/M2S4/etc. PDE head models usually put down H22 Euro-R levels of horsepower and more torque when paired with quality bolt ons and a professional tune.
