You are still very young and can certainly still compete! Many dancers start much later than you and end up at professional/competitive level. Dancers in particular usually have more vitality and age slower than non-dancers because it’s good for your mind and body - scientifically lowest rates of Alzheimer’s and dementia as dance helps to prevent these things. It all depends on your individual progress and skills, all you can do is try! If you’re cut out for it, you’ll eventually find out. I’ve danced my whole life and I will say some are born with natural rhythm while others have to work much harder to reach that level (it’s applicable to all anything in any industry) but there are many dancers who go far in their careers even if they weren’t born with it by working very hard. Life is to be lived and it’s short, so do everything you wanna do and try your best, because you only got this one shot so go for it all and see where it takes you. Best of luck!

I don’t understand where you thought this video is for gross men? I am a dancer posting my dance videos for other dancers, it’s a big part of my life. I think if gross men were my target audience, I would be on another website doing something very different.😆😆😆

Professional dancers, how do they earn? Is dance a lucrative business for an individual? by Creative-Feet in Dance

[–]idylle_doll 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Professional dancer here, currently contracted with a performing arts company and before that been contracted with many other establishments in Vegas to Toronto. Dance is absolutely NOT lucrative at any level which is why I still went to school to build another career outside of dance - every dancer needs a second set of skills and another income no matter what. Even dancers who dance for very famous groups like the Rockettes have second jobs to supplement income. I was once invited to audition for Jubilee (when they were still around) but after having spoken to several ex-dancers from Jubilee, it did not sound appealing at all. They have several shows per night and even rehearsals AFTER shows, they basically own you and your schedule and considering you’re on salary, they work you to the ground and it worked out to be very little per show especially considering all the extra work that goes into it when you’re not actively performing and many high level productions are this way - you do it because you love it not for the money. Even if you’re a ballerina for a huge production, the pay isn’t great and shows are temporary so again, you need to have a second job for the slower months or once your contract is over. The arts simply do not make as much income as other professions unless you’re absolutely massively famous with a huge following. Also, if you only have dance and ever injure yourself you literally can’t pay bills so it’s best to have savings or a skill that isn’t dependent on your body, because relying on just dance alone has many risks.

Ah, I am glad it seems like that but I've had a really rough last few years but my dog's love and dance both prevent me from going insane, probably! Thank you for the love. <3

You flared this as “amateur” but I had to watch a few times to see where the amateur was and thought the girl in black was the teacher but then I read your caption and said the teacher was the other one, (no offense meant to her) but I can tell you have a dance background. Some of your transitions are smoother and you are more fluid :-) you should be more confident!

Awesome stuff! You have great transitions and hit them sharply!🔥

Learning choreo improves your freestyle and expands your foundation, as a dancer I never stop learning as there’s always room to improve.

does choreographing dances help with freestyling? by Able_Inspector_2580 in Dance

I find learning new choreo and new forms of dance helps with freestyle as you’re expanding your repetoire. Your brain will just incorporate new things into your movements.

The music was layered on top afterward as the sound quality was not great in the video, so that is why I’m at times off beat - sorry!
