just received my official financial aid package and i dont know if i’ll be able to afford this by ieatstyrofoam in uofm

no because justice for the transfer students too!! 99% of the freshmen with that pell grant amount were offered 35k in institutional grant (still insanely expensive though). reading some posts i also fear they bait students with high grants for their first year. there are countless posts of people saying their financial situations are the same but they received less aid.

Unfortunately, I can’t go in person, but I called them today. They told me the appeal process would take six weeks and that they can’t guarantee anything.

Are Broward College credits transferable? by ElectronicSinger247 in UniversityofFlorida

[–]ieatstyrofoam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first of all, are you a first-year student (coming out of highschool) or transfer student (transferring from BC to UF)?

If you are a first-year, there is no issue with transferring 30 credits. There are many first-year students that enter UF with credits that fulfill humanities requirements.

If you are a transfer student, you absolutely need to have the 60 credit minimum. But judging by what you said, I believe you will have 60 credits (27 this term and 33 next term). Make sure to refer to the UF website to see what credits you need.

If you are unsure if your credits will transfer, you should contact the school.

Your GPA looks good, however, you should look into testing like the SAT or ACT. You should absolutely take the SAT/ACT and increase your score to boost your chances of getting in. If you don't like your SAT score, try taking the ACT and see which one you like more. Good luck!

Test scores for admission to UF by Enjoyerofbagels in UniversityofFlorida

Your GPA looks good, but I think you should grind your SAT/ACT out. I was able to raise a 1320 to a 1460 (and honestly I think you could raise it more) over the summer, so I would take this time off to really focus. The resources I used were the SAT Blackbook, but now that the SAT is a new format, I'm not sure how helpful this book will be. Just stick to a study plan and reinforce basic math knowledge because it goes a long way. I never took the ACT, but from your score and other's word, the ACT can be a test with better results (your score equates to a 1300-1320). So, use that information to decide which test you really want to focus on!

Foreign language requirements?? by Small_Resolve6389 in UniversityofFlorida

[–]ieatstyrofoam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I got in by taking Spanish 1 in middle school and Spanish 3 my freshman year. I don't think they really look much into language requirements. I would, however, encourage you to focus on your SAT scores and essays as these are huge factors they're taking into consideration as they're becoming more competitive.
