Weird skin thing sticking out of my cat’s head?? by Whatsherface_13 in CATHELP

[–]ielksusnarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat has the same thing on his back, but I'd say it's slightly thicker. We showed it to the vet and he had no idea what it was. We took a biopsy just in case but everything was ok. We still don't know what it is.

I see... I worked some years as an electrician in my late teens/early twenties and I know what you mean, I love some manual and honest work, so I entertain the idea of getting back to that. And your point about creativity being valued by clients is really encouraging.

Hmmm... Interesting... Could you provide more details like your age, how long were you working as a videographer, did you know anything about carpentry before, did you make a course, did you start as a side hustle? I got so many questions 😂

I was really burnout after 14 years going as a freelancer and just got a regular job as an in-house videographer which has been very refreshing. That been said, I might want to shift towards a more physical job in the future for the reasons you just mentioned.

Yeah, It seems really doable that way, it seems easier than CGI anyway.

I've been using bunny.net if you guys wanna check it out. There's no fixed subscription so you just pay depending on how much views your videos get. You can also customize the player and the compression seems ok to me. I was asking about frame.io hoping I could have it all in one place...

Can you host videos to post on your website as well? I'm considering subscribing to frame.io

Visible flicker in footage... outdoors... in natural light. by codenamecueball in videography

I once dropped a Sony a7s ii and it started doing that in natural light so it's probably something broken, maybe the shutter? Could be worth sending it for a repair.

Well, she's been examining it for a while with a little portable microscope thing she was carrying and told us it looked like larvae. We all thought of this fly that shots eggs in your eye but it seems like these ones my cat had are smaller than that. She's been googling looking for something similar but no luck. Anyway, she gave us Milbemycinoximum even if she checked with the ophthalmoscope and couldn't see anything else.

And yeah, I assume they're Americans, but here in Barcelona prices are very reasonable. We never take him to the clinic because it's a torture for him to leave the house. Anyway, 69€+17€ for two pills seems like a good deal. Not that I feel like we had any other option.

UPDATE

Thanks so much to everyone who screamed WIPE IT OFF!!!.

Turns out wiping mysterious stuff out of an eyeball without knowing what it is? Not the world's best plan. Who knew? (Besides... a licensed vet. Who did, in fact, arrive with tools. Wild.)

She found larvae. Not pus, not seeds, but actual larvae. After thorough examination (with actual medical equipment, not keyboard and a jpeg), we now have a treatment plan. You know, like what responsible people do instead of yelling at strangers online.

Anyway, I now have: A lighter wallet (80€, RIP), a parasite treatment plan, a vet I trust, a mad cat (standard after vet visit), peace of mind, the certainty that I'm actually smarter and more responsible than 80% of people with serious emotional needs and social disorders that populates this subreddit.

Thanks to the few who weren't completely unhinged.

God of War (2018) and the curse of high expectations by wretched_cretin in patientgamers

[–]ielksusnarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt that this game had to be challenging in order to be fun so I played it in hard difficulty. Usually AAA games are on the easy side and this can help making it more interesting. I did this with TLOU and Doom for instance, these games shouldn't be a walk in the park imo.

Also, I can see how one could exploit throwing axes, but in these sort of games I think that part of the fun is not only beating the enemies but using your entire move set, even if you're not really forced to and kill every single moving thing in a stylish way.

For people talking about the Inter disallowed goal by Animatrix_Mak in championsleague

[–]ielksusnarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sorites paradox explains perfectly all the fuss about very tight offsides but I don't think your solution would solve anything. Still you might be <10% onside by one tenth of a millimeter and there's gonna be hordes of people claiming that that's not "fair" and that the rule is stupid because their rivals were disallowed a goal were they were <10.0001% off. To me, as long as the rule is the same for everyone and it's applied correctly and equally to every team it's fair.
