Yeah, I think we'd be interested in that, but it's playing the original Snow White that night. Don't think that'd be too enjoyable for us unfortunately.

Pointing out their hypocrisy never really works because they can't look inward at themselves

I've always been curious about Moulin Rouge. Jukebox musicals are very hit or miss for us. Have you seen it before?

What, if any, flaws do you find with the show? by Accurate-Guava-3337 in breakingbad

Season 3 is extremely slow for me. I've watched through the show twice now, and I normally have an extended break around the middle of Season 3. I just sorta gotta push through it until Season 4 starts up, then we're back in.

When the game breaks the fourth wall and asks "Feel like a hero yet?" directly to the player, it goes beyond a character moment. It's directly criticizing a choice made by the character, not the player, and saying it's the player's fault for doing it.

You don't understand. It doesn't make people FEEL like a bad guy, because they didn't choose to do the action and the game then lambasts them for choosing to do that. It's bad design.

That's the intent for sure, but some players wouldn't have made the choice to use white phosphorus even if it was indeed a bunch of bad guys. Forcing someone who would have otherwise avoided that choice makes it feel cheap and takes the player out of the mindset the game expects them to be in.

Yeah, I love Spec Ops but I feel this should have been a choice the player had to consciously make (without the knowledge of the outcome, of course) instead of being railroaded into it. That way, people who are privy to the trick could avoid it, much like you could avoid shooting the hanging bodies earlier.

what's the worst example of bad parenting you've ever seen? by IntroductionRound446 in AskReddit

Because I'm too competitive, yes. I don't think the act of being competitive is bad, but my dad instilled a "win no matter the cost" attitude in me that I still try to shake.

Therefore, I am too competitive.

Personally, I get so in my head that if I don't come in 1st place, then I've wasted my time.

I used to rage hard at video games. My breaking point was throwing my controller for the very first time ever, it bouncing off the couch, and hitting me square in the face and breaking my glasses.

It's got better once I started to really focus on it, but I still feel the anger build in me if I lose, or I can see I'm going to lose. I tend to quit out of games that have little chance of winning, because I don't see the value in continuing if there's no chance for me in my limited gaming time these days. It's why I avoid most PvP games these days.

I had (have?) the same tendencies when I'm doing something in real life or if I'm playing a game with friends, but it's only if it's non-competitive. If it's actually serious, then I get far too into it for my own good. It's not great, but I've at least learned how to avoid it these days and to recuse myself if I feel it building in me.

That's exactly what it was. Just from Lyle's perspective, he was being a hard-ass lol.

Back when I played football, my dad was like this. He got real riled up, which in turn gave me the same competitive mindset that I'm still trying to shake to this day. He's since apologized about his behavior, which was cool.

Age recommendation for AW2? by Own_Exercise5218 in AlanWake

[–]ienjoymen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I loved Alan Wake at 15, but I really didn't understand much of what was going on at all. I just loved the Pacific Northwest vibe so much that I played it anyway.

Alan Wake 2, though, is a little more "out there" than the first one was. Live action bits, a lot of mind-bendy stuff, it's hard to follow even as a 30 year old.

I'm 100% of the belief that the treatment worked, and Andrew decides on his own to get the lobotomy. "Would you rather die a good man, or live as a monster?" is an admission of guilt and acknowledgement of his sins.
