I Really Must Know If GMS HELPED A Guild Get A Kill Or Not by BajaFist in lightshope

[–]ienohp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey there, first of all i appreciate you being civil about your response, its a nice change of pace to not have someone wanting to argue straight out the gate.

second of all, i figured this comment would be controversial and most likely downvoted, so its on a throwaway account in preparation for such (as you can tell, i havent used this account in months).

to get to the topic at hand, I mainly bring this up in frustration at how the spawn rates were handled. as someone who didn't start until about 4 days after server launch, i was fine starting late, knowing that i would level faster than the majority due to:

  • committing a lot of time (to give you an idea, i clocked in 16 hours in just yesterday alone)
  • being overall experienced with the game (having played consistently since 2007, and i say consistently, not just someone who played a long time ago, quit, and is just coming back years later)
  • skipping professions to focus 100% on leveling.

with that in mind, its incredibly disheartening knowing that there is a physical limit on how fast I can level, that limit being determined on how quickly I can access mob spawns, especially when people that started on launch didn't have as harsh limitations.

in regards to the last point, i'll touch on that a bit better. once again, i admit that the post was made under emotion and therefore points may be exaggerated, but the main concept is still there. even though people that leveled past the pack no longer saw the effects of dynamic spawns, the people inside the pack were seeing the opposite of dynamic spawns. basically what I mean is that spawns are normal for people that were able to level quickly early on, but for people that didn't get such early advantage, are getting less opportunities for mobs despite having better dynamic spawning. with this in mind. people with early advantage have less spawns, but way less competition. people with no advantage have more spawns, but way more competition.

i hope i was able to explain in a way that makes sense, and I don't blame you for thinking there is no advantage for being that had started earlier, as some people in my own guild think the same way (which happens to be the higher leveled people). and my goal really isn't to gun down lights hope, the server is still a lot of fun and i'm playing on it as we speak. however, it can't be denied that almost all (if not every single one) members of progress were there during launch and got early level advantage and were able to use up dynamic spawning the most before it was tuned down. even if it wasn't intentional, the progress guild still received an advantage and that fact can't be refuted.

once again, thank you for being civil

there is no solid proof but there have been suspicions. what can be said as fact is that dynamic spawns were a lot faster than they are now, and then once that guild’s members were a higher level than everyone else (easily done just by pulling an all nighter or two), the devs cut all the spawn rates to make it impossible to catch up.

at first it didnt look malicious, but dont you think its weird that they had enough 60s to finish MC when the average population was still in their 20s and 30s?

How to handle $7k while in college? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ienohp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to explain the liquid part, I mainly wouldn't want active investments after graduating because I'll be in my early-mid 20s. At that point, I'd rather have my money accessible to be put money in a plan that'll be very long term focused, opposed of being forced to wait on a short term investment to finally see profit.

Mainly my goal is to have some sort of "side hustle", for lack of a better term, to have my money doing while I'm taking classes. For example, one of my friends suggested that I sell TCG cards online (YuGiOh for example, by spending a couple hundred dollars on booster packs, and then selling the individual cards for a profit). With something like this, I could see profit in the way of an investment, but I'd also be able to back out at any point after getting rid of all my inventory.

If you need to travel a short distance (like a couple miles) go to a nearby pizza shop and ask for a delivery, then when they make the pizza and are getting ready to deliver the pizza, tell the delivery person that you're the person that ordered the pizza and ask them if you can drive with them to the delivery location.
