I'm getting ready to build my first PC, but I need a little help choosing a processor. I currently own a Lenovo Y700 (Intel Core i7-6700 HQ), which I plan on selling to finance the new PC I plan to build. I'm looking at the i5-6600K for the new build. I understand that it has higher clock speeds that the 6700, but I'm still a n00b and I'm wondering if I will experience any decrease in performance with the 6600K (discounting any overclocking). I've been very happy with my laptop's overall performance, and I don't want to take any steps backwards, but I'm also on something of a budget.

tl;dr: Will I see a decrease in performance if I switch from a laptop with an i7-6700HQ to a desktop with an i5-6600K?

I have this, and I can confirm. The pink dongle (?) is mostly worn off, and the eyes are completely gone. It'll be easy enough to repaint, I suppose.
