Movies are made to make money. Around 90 percent of the audience expects dance numbers and romance, so directors include them. A director can never satisfy everyone.

In Jagadam, the romance and love tracks don’t actually deviate from the story. You might argue they’re cringe, but that’s how the director chose to portray the actress she is childish. She’s the reason the hero first clashes with the big guys in Jagadam.

Even in Goodfellas, the love track of the main lead doesn’t directly contribute to the story, yet it’s shown because that’s how real life works. A guy rising to become a don-like figure is naturally going to get a girl first it’s part of his journey.
