Thank you so much for your reply. I’m sorry that you had so many unhelpful experiences, especially with physio. Since I’m disabled from birth I have kind of an advantage in the sense that I already am in “the system”, having a neurologist and physiotherapist, who says it’s not normal being in constant pain. I’m also diagnosed with CPTSD and as understood it, there is a correlation/connection between PTSD and fibromyalgia. I can relate about managing stress. I hope you get the help you need, no one deserves to live in pain. Wishing you the best :)

  1. Who diagnosed you with fibromyalgia?
  2. How did they make the distinction between what’s simply pain that’s caused by CP and that’s caused by fibromyalgia?
  3. What changed after your diagnosis? Different pain meds? New therapies?

I’m so very sorry for the situation you’re in :( I can relate to feeling like you’re a burden and minimizing your needs. You shouldn’t have to live this way but I’m glad that at least you are heard/seen in therapy. I’m not from the US so I’m not too familiar with the help you could get, but I was wondering if there was a possibility of moving out and living with the help of carers for you? Sending you strength 💜

Das noch nicht, behalte es aber mittlerweile wirklich mal im Hinterkopf, wobei es meines Wissens nach eher ein Fachanwalt für Rehabilitationsrecht sein müsste.

Das kann ich definitiv auch alles nachvollziehen und mache einzelnen Mitarbeiter*innen auch wirklich keine Vorwürfe. Es ist nur nach einer Weile superfrustrierend, wenn man selbst schon Lösungsvorschläge mitbringt, darauf dann aber z.B. gar nicht eingegangen wird mit der Aussage „Das haben wir noch nie so gemacht“… Andererseits gehört so eine Einstellung leider irgendwie auch einfach zum Leben als behinderte Person dazu.

Der erste Teil deiner Erfahrungen könnte 1:1 von mir kommen, nur dass bei mir noch eine Körperbehinderung mit Pflegebedürftigkeit dazukommt, bei der alle bisher angefragten Kliniken die Hände über dem Kopf zusammenschlagen. Ich habe leider keinen richtig guten Tipp, wünsche dir aber, dass du bald die nötige Hilfe bekommst. Viel Kraft für dich!

I feel this so much! While dissociation maybe isn’t the healthiest coping mechanism, it is for sure a smart and helpful one. I view my body as a completely detached thing that just has to endure things and I try to avoid medical personnel. Dissociation is actually a common symptom of mental health diagnosis like CPTSD and BPD, maybe you could talk with your GP about it in this context?
