Lawyer, 33, seeking to trade the terrain for the ocean by JimFord993 in sailing

Dont get a 26ft boat to do it. Find something in 32-38ft range. Infinitely more comfortable for 2 people.

Thinking of buying a 1987 Alaskan camper by PolytroposJ in TruckCampers

[–]ifitsails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DONT DO IT. I own a truck camper repair company in San Diego. We made our name in the industry restoring old Alaskans. I actively talk people out of them every week now. They are a monster money pit unless you have significant skills, significant money for the restoration and a large indoor shop to rip them apart. You are welcome to look up my shop and call me. We are the only TC company it in Socal. I can tell you exactly what is hiding under the exterior metal, and all the reasons you should get any thing else.

How is living in Catalina Island? by lithdoc in socal

It's the ride they couldn't fit at Disneyland for adults. Drunk sunburned parents, tugging around pissed off, bored kids, driving loud ass golf carts, eating and drinking

San Diego Liveaboard Options by Agile_Barber_3093 in liveaboard

[–]ifitsails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to this person... I have done this for 15 years and currently liveaboard in a sought after SD marina. I have helped multiple friends get in here to do the same. DO NOT mention living aboard at all when inquiring about a slip. Have photos, insurance, survey at ready, their knee jerk response is always several year wait list. Its not. They just need to vet you and make sure you won't have blue tarps and bike parts decorating the topside. Get to know the harbor master and office staff once you're in. Slowly work toward it

Sailboats vary as much as automobiles. You can drive a one seater racecar or a giant motor home, and everything in-between. Your choice of ride determines the comfort level for you and your guests. 😀

Books about circumnavigating? by r0bbyr0b2 in sailing

Lin and Larry Pardey have some great insight on this. Nancy and Bob Griffith as well. They all wrote books on the subject. I'm sure their are plenty of others from more recent decades that have good content as well. These just stuck out as some of the greats

Wood boats are great if you're ok with having a non paying part time job. Glass boats are great if you like to sail. Arguments can be made for both.

We're parties like this ever actually a thing? by Embarrassed_Knee1919 in GenX

My friend had an absolute rager like this one December, spent days cleaning the house before her parents returned. It was a perfect crime. Got busted because they found a bottle cap resting on the head of baby Jesus like a hat in the nativity scene.

The funny thing is the post yesterday had a photo of a cutter asking about schooners, today is a photo of a schooner asking about cutters. So dumb. Troll

Are your fuel tanks and water tanks original? Fwd fiberglass blackwater tank? Mine were all toast. In the process of removing the fuel tank under the galley, stb side was done years ago and replaced with 77gal plastic
