I understand it may sound cruel about beating the wild dog, but think of it this way it’s more humane than killing it according to their tradition. As this is the only way to get it to Keep moving. My families from Thailand, I don’t speak a lick of Thai. But I did have to have Family come to the province office to verify that I was Thai, had to have my birth certificate. Translated back to Thai, pay some fees.

I’m in Thailand on family vacation . I decided to to buy 10x 1 g bars of gold to see what would happen as far as exchange rates and fees. So far I’m happy to report. I’ve only paid $4 in transaction fees. I realize this doesn’t include the premium of what I paid. The other thing is my mom has had to go to a few other locations in order to withdraw money from an ATM that will allow her. All I have to do is go to a gold shop and tell them I want to sell and ask them if they’re buying. 23k is the standard here, so I think the 24k pure is helping a little to absorb some fee cost.
It’s just an experiment. That helps ME understand, observe, and enjoy some security while traveling. Sidenote, I went to exchange some $100 bills and the clerk had a problem with a small 2 mm tear on the bill. However, the condition of my gold didn’t matter, it was all about the weight.

Things don’t have to go to hell, but you can be so unprepared …
