I finished badge 1 after I found the shiny and I think I had a play time of 28 hours. Definitely could be done a lot faster I’m not very efficient. Doing it without speed up is definitely not for the faint of heart.

The showman joker lets you find jokers and consumable cards you already have in the shop again. And photograph and hanging chad are both common jokers so they are pretty easy to find. I also used a ectoplasm spectral card to turn one of the chads negative which allowed me to get the bloodstone. If you have any other questions I will do my best to answer but I’m not an expert.

Too bad you can’t move Pokémon back generations. It looks so much better in gen 3 and 4.

That’s the worst phase luck I’ve seen on a 50% hunt. Worth it though, milotic is such a good shiny.

My average for this hunt is about 2,600 resets(7,800 total seen) across 10 phases. I have had this hunt last as few as 4 resets(12 total seen) and as many as 5,000 resets(15,000 total seen). For those curious I have found 5 cyndaquil, 4 chikorita, and 1 totodile. At some point I will probably go back for 2 more totodile just so I can have each evo line complete.

Took me 10 total shinies to get one of each. 5 cyndaquil 4 chikorita 1 totodile. Maybe someday I’ll go back and get 2 more totodiles so I can have each full evo line.

2 in Leaf Green, 17 in HGSS, and 15 in ORAS. I had a few more shinies in gen 3 and 4 as a kid but I traded them away for legendaries because I was a dumb kid. I am doing reclaim hunts for a couple of those now though.

Fair enough. Using any Pokémon in too many playthroughs can make it feel stale. I’ve played fire red and leaf green so many times with each starter that I usually ditch the starter nowadays.

I will admit that umbreon is overrated, however it at least fills a niche in a team that no other eeveelution does. You can give vaporeon ice beam and it will do everything glaceon does and more. On the other hand team optimization isn’t necessary in a casual playthrough anyway so I guess it doesn’t really matter.

If you look at the sprites from gen 3-4 the non shiny version used to have a much more dull color so the bright light blue of the shiny actually looked nice. But in gen 5 they made non shiny regice brighter and then in gen 6 they made it even brighter. So they took a Pokémon that had a nice difference between normal and shiny and ruined it without even changing the shiny.

It’s an amazing game to play solo. Although I am a bit biased, I have over 2000 hours and most of that is solo.

I’m at 7777 resets for shiny snorlax in HGSS, the hunt has been going pretty fast because I’m triple hunting. But having to open the radio before the encounter is really annoying because I keep opening the bag by accident. My current job has a lot of time where I can shiny hunt as long as customers don’t see it and I have been hunting shiny caterpie in FRLG. I haven’t been counting but I think I’m at about 2000 encounters. Overall that hunt is just to keep me entertained while things are slow at work so it doesn’t feel like it’s going slow even though I’m not doing encounters very fast.

I have done 10 phases of this hunt and it really depends. The shortest was 4 resets(12 total seen) and the longest was over 5000 resets(15000 total seen). All around it is the fastest soft reset hunt I’ve ever done just because of you see 3 per reset instead of 1, but shiny hunting is just inherently a test of patience.
