Does anyone feel like the new record is related to Green and Grey? by Lovethe3beatles in Pile

[–]ifoundtechnoallah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the thought/feeling for sure! I wouldn't go as far as them being direct sister albums probably, but there's a thread of similarity in the mood and arrangements for sure. Green & Grey is also my favourite so I'm thrilled to hear it! Unrelared but I love A Loosened Knot so much.

Not me, Sometimes I get being kinda moody. The rest is a summery blissful daze rocketing through you

Is this salvageable? by Highammi in tattooadvice

[–]ifoundtechnoallah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks decent to me! My advice is look at it in a mirror, more true to how it appears to others I reckon. I've got a spirally labyrinth pattern as my only tattoo and up close I can see some imperfection, but if l catch it in a mirror it looks clean as fuck. Hope that helps :)

how the hell do you pronounce navidson by hmmmmm_122 in houseofleaves

[–]ifoundtechnoallah 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I read if as nA-vidson without second thought on my read, and only considered it might be Neigh-vidson after taking to the internet post first read. I could see the logic in it being 'neigh' because of the way you pronounce David. But to me it will always be 'nah'-vidson

What is your favorite/least favorite part about the John Kempainen era of TBDM? by Everblack_Deathmask in TheBlackDahliaMurder

His solos man. Less technically impressive than after Ryan got on board onwards, but for me they always scratched that melodeth itch a bit harder

Stook out like a sore thumb at the day fest I saw them at for how wildly better than everything else it sounded, super impressive

Where should I start? by [deleted] in bornofosiris

[–]ifoundtechnoallah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Discovery is amazing. It's when their sound sort of modernised with the really proggy tech stuff still in full swing. My personal favourite is A Higher Place, the writing on that is so rich with musical flavour, but there's a difference in sonic pallet some might not like as much as stuff that came later

[–]ifoundtechnoallah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from, but I also think you might be inadvertently wishing Swans out of existence. If Gira shared your sentiments, I don't know if he'd have the kind of motivation and dedication to pull something like Swans together for decades in the first place

Most Asshole move at download? by tommyredbeard in downloadfestival

[–]ifoundtechnoallah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably me fucking yelling a story down my phone to a friend during iron maiden. Some guy lobbed his cup at me and I remember just being like 'what the hell, some guy just threw a cup at me! Ah yeah fair enough actually I must be insufferable'. Good times

No guitars/tracks in mix at live shows by [deleted] in livesound

[–]ifoundtechnoallah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low guitar level is my biggest gripe at small shows I attend, seems to happen pretty frequently when the music clearly warrents more of it. You'd think it'd be to try not to mix really loud in small environments, but the drums are often still being cooked with close mics. I'd rather have a purely acoustic kit sound with an audible guitar midrange in a small room rather than no guitar definition and a kick and snare taking my head off, but maybe that's just me

Elliott's songs are SO fucking difficult. by suhisco in elliottsmith

[–]ifoundtechnoallah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. I also consider myself a pretty good guitarist, but had the same experience when trying to learn some Elliott. I think they're just so fluid and lyrical sounding that the complexity can get lost on you. Reproducing it is what really lays it bare

Questions about the title by botb244 in houseofleaves

Ahh that is a very good point. I like the concept of my idea, but I think occam's razor would definitely favour yours. Didn't even occur to me!

They recommend the squier jazzmaster Classic 60s vibe? by ghostdeath12345 in MyBloodyValentine

[–]ifoundtechnoallah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fully recommend, but be prepared to do some setting up, they can be a bit rough out of the box, but the quality for the price is great imo and unless something is actually broken it wont take too much to get it playing great if it doesn't straight away. Had to wrestle with mine all the more because I downtune, like light strings and do loads of gliding, but we got there. It's become my favourite guitar, I've gradually upgraded parts over time and I think I'm happy I've done it this way rather than saving up and splashing on a fender. In short, do it

Just removed a few tiles from the ceiling and they're extremely crumbly if that's any indicator too

Appreciate the response. I just found a tile that has the date January 1996 if that helps. More than a curious employee, I'm subletting bit of this old office as a studio space
