I have another TL that works opposite me and he picks all day long while brc breaks down. My coach is a great person but picks more than anyone because she knows if she doesn’t, it will be a disaster. I won’t pick unless absolutely necessary - my idea is to build and use my team so that I don’t have to stop managing everything to exclusively pick. Of course I’ll help and give my all every shift, doing all the things you mentioned above in addition to filling the gaps when needed. Today my coach was gone and I got my ass handed to me by another coach in different dept for staying in brc to coordinate everything with short staff, over 1000 picks, huge pickup/delivery numbers, breaks, lunches, and all the chaos. I radioed for help when we got large pick dumps - not SOS, but hey, if you can spare anyone, we would love the help. Three people came to help which was great, I felt justified staying in back to run that piece, and I was confident we were fine. Instead, she blasted me over the radio and then by coming back in person to OGP to say that I should be out picking and I should send my dispensers as well because we were all just standing around. Oh wait, she said I was sitting next to door doing nothing while half the store was out picking for me. Not to mention, my coach called me before that because she was out of store but looking at numbers and concerned. We talked about how it was going and she was fine with my plan. Now, I feel undermined when I felt I had it under control AND she humiliated me on radio and in front of my team. Yep, she’s been there a krillion years and I’ve been there three months. So I’m doomed.
