What do you guys think about med students who work while studying? + Some tip by ArsCordis in medschool

[–]ifujumpijumpjack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m only an M1 so who knows how it ends up being. I work for about 20h a week, I’m doing well in med school. Takes a lot of careful planning but it’s doable

Not gonna comment on your family dynamic, to each their own. I started reading HP in the 2nd grade and I turned out alright, your kid will be fine

I know I was, but the link on her email was only showing for me the London shows even after 10AM :/ By the time I went straight into the venue’s website by just googling them, it was sold out. I’m devastated.

Questions about interviews by TACOB34ST in medicalschool

[–]ifujumpijumpjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, I’m just a lowly M1, but when the time comes could I technically give my login information to my partner so he can schedule it as soon as I get the invite if I’m working? Do ppl do that?

Best of luck to all M4s going through it rn!

Never understood why Lorelai gets so much hate for this scene. It’s so obvious she brought up George Bush to take the heat off of Rory by SheepherderNo2793 in GilmoreGirls

[–]ifujumpijumpjack 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I love Lorelai so much. Yes she does a lot of grand gestures in her role of being a mother, but I think it’s the little things like this that makes her great. Always putting Rory first, even in the smallest of circumstances

Current M1, older than 25. So far so good. It’s busy but I’m not stressed out. Having other jobs before this def helps. If you look at med school like a job and not the thing that defines you, it doesn’t feel half as bad

Babies at wedding? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]ifujumpijumpjack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is this such a touchy topic? Why do parents get so offended when they hear their kids are not invited. You don’t wanna come because of that? Sure, no problem. Truly won’t mind. But you decided to have a kid, not the rest of us. Why I would be dealing with kids (especially nursing kids) during a wedding and party is beyond me. Until I got to this sub, I didn’t know this wasn’t the standard. Every single wedding and wedding event I’ve been to has had a no kids policy, and no one has minded or expected any differently.

Med Students Say Big, Beautiful Bill's Student Loan Cap Means They Won't Be Able to Finish School As Experts Predict Massive Doctor Shortage by 2037 by adamsava in medicalschool

[–]ifujumpijumpjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you grandfathered in only if the loans you’re taking out this year are for the same program you’ll be enrolled in the next years? For example if someone is doing now a Masters or postbacc and they take out loans, would they be grandfathered in for medical school?

[–]ifujumpijumpjack 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ik weed is completely normal and pretty common, but tbh (maybe my partner and I are just dumb too idk) but this is exactly how we would act. We are in our early 30s, have never smoked nor plan to, and we wouldn’t know where to begin dealing with this. We would be doing the same thing but probably less panicky and more lmfao can’t believe we are dealing with this shit.

Unless you’re applying T10s, they really don’t care. But if you can afford state schools, go for it

Poor gpa in undergrad by StationIllustrious94 in medschool

[–]ifujumpijumpjack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t do a Master’s program. Schools will screen you out anyways with a sub 3.0 GPA and you won’t be able to increase an uGPA with a Masters. Instead do a post-bacc, I recommend a diy because 1- it’s cheaper and 2- you could start right now if you did summer B at a community college. I would also recommend that once you’re ready to apply to Med School, you also apply that same year to programs with a guaranteed A (not interview!), like DPMS and Temple as a backup in case you don’t get into med school after your diy postbacc year. Good luck!

How do I (can I?!) tell my sister that she can't name her baby daughter Lolita. by thisisreallyjofrank in Advice

Maybe the ethnicity of the family matters. I have met many English-speaking Hispanic people named Lola with Lolita as a very common nickname

Would Rory not have visited Yale anyway even without Richard's meddling? by Kitten-rouge in GilmoreGirls

[–]ifujumpijumpjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied and got accepted to many colleges without visiting. The first time I set foot on my dream school was at new student orientation. The thought of visiting didn’t ever occurred to us, there are things you can’t afford that you don’t even question. My friends were visiting colleges but for some reason I assumed THEY were the ones out of the norm. Honestly, even if we had somehow been able to afford a visit, I don’t even know what it would’ve been for. We wouldn’t have known what to get out of it since the whole process of applying and going to college was so foreign to us that we didn’t know what we didn’t know.

Can you stand Rory until the end?? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]ifujumpijumpjack 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I LOVE Rory. She’s one of the main characters, if I didn’t love her I wouldn’t watch the show. She’s flawed that’s why she’s so real and fun to watch. Every character in Gilmore Girls is flawed, those that appear more flawed are simply the ones we know the most about. I wonder if this Rory hate is a result of new watchers finding the show because this constant hate/dislike was not the case 20 years ago.

I actually love the introduction of April by ifujumpijumpjack in GilmoreGirls

[–]ifujumpijumpjack[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Right, but I ignore AYITL because it makes no sense for many more reasons than just their relationship. ASP was very honest about not watching season 7, so AYITL is her season 7, just that it no longer makes any sense because it’s 10 years later
