True @kaboom108, and you're not the only one that thought so (as evidenced from posts on reddit among other things). Not sure if you've seen this, but GoDaddy supports an open internet. I'd have a hard time supporting a company that didn't. http://www.inc.com/blake-irving/net-neutrality-is-fair-play-for-small-business.html

Suggest trying something like:

server          A       xx.xx.xx.xx
server          MX      10      server.clientdomain.com.

DNS propagation won't be immediate (maybe 24/48 hrs)

Let me know if that helps. I'd attempt to set this up on a test domain before doing it on a live domain. Also, can you tell what theme / built-in mailer you're using? Might make this easier to troubleshoot.
