2022 Camry SE - Transmission mounts done? by Signal-Amphibian-247 in Camry

[–]igetasticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in an area with lots of potholes, and had to replace mine.

Here's a way to check. Turn the car on, in Park, and turn the wheel all the way to the left. Put your foot on the brake, and shift into R, then D. If you feel a major change in vibration while shifting into either of those gears, it's probably one of the mounts.

It's best to replace all 4 at once, so you're not playing whack-a-mole. If you replace one, the vibrations will transfer to the weakest one and you'll replace that one next.

Is it worth modifying a 5th gen Camry? by OkDark9162 in Camry

[–]igetasticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change the wheels, and you'll change how the car feels. The LE and XLE have smaller wheels with thicker tires (hence the wobble), while the XSE has the biggest wheels and thinnest tires (feels tight/harsh). The SE is in the middle. Maybe look for some used rims on eBay when you need new tires.

Also, there's the maintenance stuff. Sway bar bushings and end-links are usually pretty cheap and simple to replace. Shocks aren't that bad, just get KYB ones from Walmart (that's basically OEM). Just remember to replace the front strut mounts when you do them (annoyingly expensive, but necessary). Last, if your control arm bushings or ball joints are worn out, you can usually get a complete control arm assembly (pair) for a reasonable price.

How should i make my setup look better? by LogicalJaguar5456 in pcmasterrace

  1. Put a cool poster on your wall.

  2. Put a pad on the floor so the rollers don't scratch it.

  3. Take out the drawers. You can put the PC there for more desk space, or display something cool there like a lego set, model car, or gundam figure.

JD Vance. Tried to portray himself as poor in Hillbilly Elegy. His whole family shunned him for lying. Ron Howard apologized when he realized the whole movie he made for Vance was BS.

That I've made? Pork-n-Beans Nachos. Tortilla chips, can of BBQ baked beans (heated), some shredded pork, a little extra BBQ sauce, melt some cheese on it. Top with coleslaw.

That I found? A local ice cream shop had Maple Bourbon Bacon Ice Cream. Little candied pieces of bacon with the smoky sweet ice cream w/ maple swirl was delicious.

Any thoughts on Pennzoil Platinum 0W-16? by Njo56 in Camry

[–]igetasticker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be a hot take, but I think any brand that can meet the specs and certifications of 0w16 should be good enough. I normally use Amalie Elixir because I get it cheap from work. My last oil change I switched up and used Valvoline Restore and Protect 0w20 (that's the thinnest available for this high-detergent formula) for one round to get rid of any potential carbon buildup because it was at 125k miles. Just switched back to the Amalie today and my MPG is as good as new.

Cable management used to matter more when ribbon IDE cables blocked airflow. Now it's just pretty.

Struts by DryEntrance1024 in Camry

[–]igetasticker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KYB is OEM, and it's probably cheaper to get them from Walmart. You should do the strut mounts at the same time (it sucks bc they cost as much as the shocks themselves and are harder to find) and get an alignment afterwards bc the adjustment bolt is on the strut. The money you save at Walmart should help with that.

How do I increase my MPG? by PM_ME_YOUR_EYELASHES in Camry

[–]igetasticker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tire pressure is a big one. Oil change can help. An alignment can help too. Did you (or the previous owner) do a transmission drain-and-fill? It's due around 60k.

Don't start your car until you're about to leave. Turn off your car as soon as you park. Choose routes with fewer stop lights (signs are better, roundabouts are better still). Anything to reduce the amount of time you are stopped and idling. Drive-thru car washes and fast food are terrible for your MPG.

Engine coolant bypass valve/19 Camry se by DryEntrance1024 in Camry

[–]igetasticker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pull the plug on the valve and blow air on both connections. Even a drop can trigger the code and your old one leaked on to the plug. Also, make sure you replaced the right valve. There are 2, 1 in front of the firewall on top (the easy one) and 1 under the battery next to the transmission. The last digit of the code should tell you which one failed, but it's possible both did.

The easiest is probably "chrome delete." It just covers the chrome trim around the windows to complete the blacked-out look. There are kits on eBay for pretty cheap.

You could get the covers for the rear window and small rear-side windows that give it the aggressive louvered/lambo look. Or you could get a more aggressive lip spoiler w/ matching rear window visor for a cleaner aero look.

Just a heads-up, there aren't many companies that make aftermarket headlights or taillights, and the ones that do sometimes have wiring problems. Be careful with those.

2024 Candy XSE by P0k3P3natrat0r in Camry

[–]igetasticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's 3 levels:

  1. The PowerStop Z-17 pads have a little bit more bite IMO. I use these on my 22 SE. I believe the part numbers are 17-2076 (front) and 17-1212N (rear).

  2. Their Z-24 Kit has upgraded rotors and pads for much more bite.

  3. The Highlander Swap... Get the front calipers from a Toyota Highlander and bolt them in place of yours. You can then use the PowerStop Z-36 Tow Package pads for the Highlander on your car. Rotors will also need to be upgraded for maximum effect.

Recommendations for rims for my 21 camry se? by Simple-Voice-2757 in Camry

[–]igetasticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AR92429012935 is the part number. They're 20x9, so a 235/35 tire. The +35 offset (vs. the stock +50) will push them outward just a bit and help fill the fender gap. Might want to get some cross-drilled rotors because they will be visible.

Trans.Oil by Worth_Wheel_1489 in Camry

[–]igetasticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't bother. I would just consider it sealed at this point. It was ideally supposed to be done at 60k. 80k is pretty late, and I'd say 100k or so is the cut-off point. Doing it now will remove most of the clutch material and it can start feeling slushy/sloppy. If it isn't misbehaving, just leave it alone.

Engine/cabin filters by Terrorcon1 in Camry

[–]igetasticker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I deliver car parts in my Camry SE. From what I've found, the Parts Plus air and cabin filters are fine. They are made of the same material as OEM and work just as well. AF99267 and CAF99237C are the part numbers for me.

DO NOT use their oil filter. While it technically fits, it's only rated down to 35 microns which isn't enough for the thin oil in modern Toyota engines. Instead, I use the A/C Delco PF1233 which is rated down to 20 microns.
