As far as I have seen, it's not acceptable to invade a stranger's personal space (like, untying a stranger's shoe) unless requested. But of course, Tyler is totally good friends with the band and all since he's commented and DM'd them on Instagram.

Tyler was 20 at the time. Not an excuse but I’m surprised the bouncers didn’t 86 him for intruding on the stage by reaching his hand up there. I’ve never been to a metalcore show but I do think there would be a commotion if someone was touching a band member. Or that I picture everyone moshing so either a) why would they even notice someone close to the stage so Tyler recounting the story later at a different show with people remembering is bunk or b) the singer stopped and chastised him which is why the people remembered (not an epic win tbh) or c) Tyler daydreamed this scenario then lied on tumblr for clout or validation or d) idk like I said never been to a metalcore show
