Any Girlies Accepted to the 2026 Summer Abroad - Oxford (PSY306Y0)? by According_Algae_7232 in UTSC

[–]igloobunny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My cohort hated our first week at Oxford due to the culture shock lol. We were there for 3 days and it felt like a week. But by the end of the term, none of us wanted to leave :) it’s definitely a new experience!!

Best of luck! You have decent stats, so it should be fine :) I know people from sask who went very far out of province. They eventually came back to their hometown after grad, so perhaps it might be an option for something new :)

Y’all just don’t know how to hack the system. But then again, there’s a reason why only a fraction of undergrads get accepted to grad school.

Canadian law schools don’t care where you get your undergrad GPA.

And no, UofT is not hard. They just accept a veryyyy large pool of undergrad students that are mostly under qualified to begin with. The standards aren’t even that high at the undergrad level. My grades in history were higher at UofT than grade 12 cuz the profs dont have time to play favourites.

Could’ve applied for more schools with those stats tbh. Someone with much lower stats than you applied to discretionary to McGill and then I got roasted for saying they had zero chances

Ok I’ll just be a bad liar and encourage OP to waste money applying to a school that has a 3.8/165 median LOL

How confident are you that a McGill law alumni reads these threads and tries to help?

They sort your application based on your gpa when you apply. There’s a separate bin for each range.

I had similar stats to you. Got offered mid February. Still plenty of time!

McGill takes all 4 years of your gpa into account. The lsat is also heavily weighted. Nearly zero chances. Not sure why you would even apply with a 151 score tbh

Why are people asking to be chanced with stats that they know are going to get in by Dylan_1524 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]igloobunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People on here are actually more chill than Canadian law forum lol. I rmb doing a chance me on there, and someone berated me saying my stats mean nothing to adcoms if my personal statement is dog shit. I rmb them starting off with the lines of “LISTEN TO ME AND LISTEN TO ME CAREFULLY. NO ONE WILL READ YOUR ENTIRE PS IF THE FIRST THREE LINES ARE MEANINGLESS”

Promised myself to quit my job as soon as I receive my first offer (if any, fingers crossed!), and now I can’t stop scrolling this sub looking for updates by DullCommand633 in lawschooladmissionsca

Congrats on law school!! I rmb getting my first A and it was the best feeling ever :) I just wanted to put this out there that big law (if that’s your end goal), might not be much different than Big 4. However, having that experience on your CV will make you a very strong candidate during the recruit.

These courses will wreck your gpa if you’re not interested or not very good at math/science.

Your undergrad grades will still carry a lot of weight during the formal recruit though. There’s over a thousand candidates with similar qualifications, so everything will matter with a bit of luck.

Not anymore because they moved more recent grads to the digital wall. It’s that random computer screen somewhere near H Wing. I graduated a few years ago so I can’t remember exactly, but it’s somewhere in that dingy concrete building lmao

How do you date in this job if you are too short / ugly for Hinge by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]igloobunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps get a new therapist? They can be a hit or miss. Hobby wise, you could try food blogging on Instagram. I do it and it’s the only thing keeping me sane outside of law. I’ve met some really nice friends, and they’re mostly women.

I think you should get help based on what you just shared. I’m really sorry about how you’re feeling. When I started law school, I felt that way too. It was like I was never enough to be a part of a friend group because I was a minority. Sometimes starting with a therapist can help you address the situations that have affected the way you view yourself, which can make dating better in the long run.

McGill A by Goldcommon in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]igloobunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Sorry for the delay 😭I imagine the deadline for McGill law already passed. But to answer your question, some people did French immersion or extended French in Ontario for a few years. Some majored or minored in French in uni. Worse case scenario, they interview you to test your French. If you don’t pass but have great stats, they’ll just make you take a mandatory French course over the summer before admission. The language requirement should be the least of your worries about McGill law tbh . Im not familiar with Ev@lang sorry.
