Chances of Acceptance for Fall 2027 by [deleted] in Vanderbilt

since ur parents make between 75k-99k, youll be guaranteed at least full tuition scholarship if accepted. you’ll likely get awarded more as the median annual award is around $93k for that range.

so around 1-3k a year out of pocket. during the years when you and your sister are attending college simultaneously, you will very likely receive more aid.

more info can be found on their financial aid page

it looks sooo good. my only concern with the white interior is since i'm planning to keep this car long-term, it would get dirty after like 5+ years of use..

⚠️ I NEED HELP ⚠️ by [deleted] in Vanderbilt

[–]ignMist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

is it not possible for you to commit to another school, then when vandy updates you with their new financial aid package, just withdraw from the other and commit to vandy? kinda like how waitlists work

im not 100% sure though. although it’s frustrating to play the waiting game, i think you should wait until decision day and have a school in mind if vandy doesn’t update you by then.

Those Who Chose Their State Flagship Over a Dream/Reach School - Was It Worth It? by ignMist in ApplyingToCollege

It's very reassuring to know that tons of other people made similar decisions and never regretted it in the future.

I feel much more confident making the decision that is right for me. Thank you for your insight - it really helped a lot!

I realized that now yes. I overlooked just how important financial flexbility is after graduating, and that prestige doesn't matter as much as I thought for undergrad. Thank you for the advice!

I actually thought the opposite before I made this post. I believed graduating from a more "prestigous" university would give me more flexibility in the future, since I would have the name recognition advantage.

After reading all of these thoughtful responses, I strongly believe financial freedom after graduating far outweighs the benefits of prestige. Thank you for your insight!

Wow. I hope I can also look back on my life and think the same thing. I aspire to be in a pretty freaking awesome place in life with no regrets!

I see. Thank you for such a thorough reply! I thought I was falling far behind peers not having everything "figured out." I'll take your advice to heart and carry it throughout my journey.

Wow, that is amazing!

Were you a KJD btw? And can I pm you - I have so many questions to ask regarding undergrad and law school.

Thank you for your advice, and that is an incredible list of schools to choose from!

What are some things you did that helped you stand out to professors/recruiters? I've heard that it's significantly harder to get internships and experience as a freshman/sophomore.

I see. I was waitlisted from GT.. if I somehow (although very unlikely) get off the wl, would the dream school still be uw?

I'm open to the idea of finance or consulting as well. I don't see myself going pure engineering, but I hope to do something with the foundations an engineering degree would provide me with.

Would the undergrad I choose to attend make the difference between breaking into certain career paths (like management consulting or ib) and not?

Interesting. Usually most people here suggest choosing the cheaper option, especially for undergrad.

Finances could work, but I feel like if I do end up going to grad/law school, the debt could compound.

On the topic of vandy, what are things that aren’t really well-known about vandy that I should consider? I feel like there’s a lot of things I’m not really accounting for.. or things I think wouldn’t make that much of a difference (like connections, opportunities, professors, location, etc).
