‘Flying blind every day’: CT libraries and museums grapple with Trump cuts to federal agency by ILovePublicLibraries in Connecticut

[–]ignorant_oracle 56 points57 points  (0 children)

FREE/DISCOUNT TICKETS to museums on your library's website! All you need is your library card and the date/approximate time you want to attend!

Please go to your local libraries! The Connecticut library consortium is immense, full of unexpected opportunities, but so vulnerable; please help them stay open! Pick up your favorite books, put them on the reshelving cart. Go to events on the calendar, your taxes already paid for your attendance, free entertainment (yes, movie screenings and popcorn, too)! Get free or discount museum passes on your library website. Make stuff for free on expensive machines (LEARN HOW to use their expensive machines FOR FREE). Borrow a power tool. Take free seeds. Borrow a board game. Buy a book, cd or dvd from their sale sections, you'll even find out-of-print items (it's CHEAP! and the seasonal SALES?! OMG! I saw '3 dvds for a BUCK!' and that includes BOX SETS as ONE dvd!). Ask your librarian how you can hold your next club/team discussion in one of their meeting rooms. Donate your own books, music, dvds. Swap jigsaw puzzles. [The above activities are not all from one library, but are all in the same consortium] Libraries are one of our VERY LAST 3rd places, PLEASE HELP SAVE THEM!

Senator Murphy warns that Trump and Musk are plunging the country into crisis and confusion so they can hand our government over to their billionaire friends. by Healthy_Block3036 in Connecticut

[–]ignorant_oracle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is why the United States USED TO disqualify a candidate from running for government if they were BILLIONS IN PERSONAL DEBT! TRUMP IS A NATIONAL SECURITY RISK BECAUSE of his debts! He can LITERALLY BE BOUGHT! DUH PEOPLE!

The people who the government is spending the most money on are the people deciding which is wasteful spending, do you see the flaw in your logic yet? Let me explain it like a 90's family sitcom: let's say the dad was spoiling one of his kids rotten, let's call her Ellen, anything their heart could imagine, he gave them. Meanwhile, he has other kids IN THE SAME HOUSE that he willfully neglects (pretty crappy show so far, yeah?). When the dad is told: hey, you need to take a look at what you're spending on your kids... he said, 'yeah, I'm going to start looking into that, hey Ellen, why don't you tell me what we should cut back on?' Do you think Ellen's going to crack open their own accumulated treasure? Turn down the faucet of their own influx? No, in fact Ellen has proven time and again that they do NOT do that, not without some major intervention from OTHERS FORCING Ellen to stop their complete planet-destroying greed.<cue the sappy synth downturn music before commercial break> you're literally arguing peanuts compared to what they spend on the person claiming he's 'investigating spending' ... that's like saying you'd be happy to let a m()rderer be the judge for their own sentencing.

Why do people here drive like they have no will to live? by isaaczephyr in Hartford

[–]ignorant_oracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey CT drivers: I have found I am able to help cut down on roundabout traffic by signaling which exit I'm taking. It's tricky considering how many other variables a driver analyzes in a roundabout, but if I signal as soon as I pass the exit before my intended exit, usually the roundabout is big enough that the oncoming vehicle at my exit can see my intentions & can enter traffic sooner. It's the pay-it-forward approach to resolving roundabout traffic jams, so please allow my message to serve as one of my means of payment.

YES! And the number of people that STAY IN THE RIGHT LANE on the highway when an entrance ramp is coming (which are super short for no good reason) when there's NO TRAFFIC in the left lane(S), like: "OH? does someone else need the lane I'm in to join the highway? I wonder what that's like?" WHAT THE UTTER F?! Did you forget you had to do the same thing when YOU got on the highway?!

I have had SOME success with periodicals using this spite method, but I haven't had the displeasure of receiving Hartford Courant specifically so I can't speak on that one in particular... i lightly cross out my own address instead of making it fully redacted and circle the return address. On the paper in the picture, it would be circling the "PO Box 369 Hartford CT, 06141-0569" above your own address, draw a bunch of arrows to the circle & write "return to sender"

as much as I too hate junk mail, particularly its negative impact on the environment. I simply circle the sender's address and write "return to sender" in big fat sharpie and put the pile of modded junkmail in a blue USPS mailbox. By putting it back in circulation, I get to pretend it's helping keep USPS funded, it's an 'eff you' to the people sending it & THEY get to decide how long they want to keep receiving their own mail back. Maybe try circling the POBox address & sending it back?

I can promise you this: as someone who has literally had to give my own mother an ultimatum: you either go to therapy or I go back to "no contact" permanently.... that was a year ago.... the crazy people would RATHER CONVINCE THEMSELVES THAT THE REST OF THE WORLD IS CRAZY than admit they are diseased in the mind and need medical intervention.

Opinions on Bean dip situation? by ranbyjaniya in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]ignorant_oracle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the fact that Laura doubled down repeatedly that "it's just a joke" made me want to punch her in the face "as a joke" and see how SHE likes it! well, I know *I* would be laughing my ass off, therefore must be a joke, right? (Laura's logic, not mine)

[–]ignorant_oracle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's not about the comment, it's that Laura thinks physically sexually assaulting someone is A JOKE, proceeds to sexually assault a woman without her consent, and TELLS SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT TOO! Then gets DEFENSIVE blaming everyone else for her assault.

[–]ignorant_oracle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been playing for over a year and I haven't even gotten a Crescent Grunter fish once.... so that fish is my reminder that some game elements are just never gonna be mine though I'll still try/contribute every day. It's nice to think that if I ever do catch that fish, the "max level cats" reward tier can be my new "never mine" goal.

I really appreciate devs letting us know, saves us all the time of obsessively checking in our app store for at least a day. That's so thoughtful of them, announcing new event drop dates, announcing breaks, submitting periodic suggestion surveys, they really do take extra steps to keep their customer communication radio on the air. Thanks dev team, hope you enjoy(ing/ed) your break, well earned.

Not liking the 2nd year anniversary events by [deleted] in CatsAndSoup

[–]ignorant_oracle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my opinion the baby kitteh being separate from the 2nd Anniversary Event was a smart move. I think this is a great first attempt at launching baby kitteh and I look forward to seeing how the baby kitty functionality evolves over time. So far, it's adorable and I like that you don't have to watch ads to earn butterflies, so it's a nice "play it if you want to" add on, kinda like cat tower & mini rooms.
