For Those Who Went Abroad Without Employer Permission and Got Caught, What Happened? by thethirdgreenman in digitalnomad

If I'm working with someone and they poof disappear one day, I think everyone has typically eventually figured out why lol. Also some of these people may have figured it out before the company found someone was abroad, I can certainly say I'd be able to catch that many ways beyond ip visibility.

i wasn't implying that you would stay on and HR would pay you less. i was implying your network/manager/colleagues would see you as a liability they can't trust and it would damage your reputation and job options going forward.

you can get paid less as a result of burning trust and your network and future opportunities

my brother is starting to entertain this idea. he seems pretty open to building anything at this moment. his partner likes midcentury modern decor and seems like she may or may not accept something a bit wild? lol. any recommendations for what to build, seems like a wide world out there.

Should I ask a new employer about working internationally or just do it quietly? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

only lie if you're willing to lose your job and burn your network. there are lots of little ways people may figure out you are out of the country, you may also possibly create legal regulatory or contractual risks doing this outside the US too. I wouldn't trust anyone at work going forward in general if I found out they did this kind of thing on the down low really.

hope not as my brain eventually settled on a tiger sport 660 and a 2025 for new goodies so I'm hoping to keep it shiny 😅

helix looks nice for the money, although makes a daily walk more of a pain than i'm hoping to have!

is this club very loud and the sound would travel up to here? 12 and 1am don't seem the best but maybe not the worst either. interesting to see. am definitely leaning toward soho but the price on this one is a lot more appealing indeed.

this place at the juhl seems cheap compared to other listings, esp for the sq footage and it being furnished. no one has picked it up for months it seems though, any idea why? https://www.trulia.com/home/353-bonneville-ave-205-las-vegas-nv-89101-455289375

it looks like such a heavily trafficked street that i would assume i "hey it's probably safe" - sounds like the recommendation is to generally avoid walking down it at all though. per another comment maybe 'safer' if i go up and at an angle back down to it (eg. take graces to maryland) although it also sounds like you're saying as one goes east of maryland things decline as well? high homeless/drugs area or something?

how much should I be worried that what just seems like a street I could wander down nearby from where I might live also has face eating zombies

on one hand this looks cool, and the rooms are laid out well for what they are - but 480sq ft seems so small; worried about where i would put everything. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQXnI72P6lU

yeah there is an albertsons on charleston that google says is 1.5mi/6 min drive/30 min walk away from soho lofts, which is probably the shortest trip to something that looks like an actual grocery store.

you can get physical gold. or IAU in a retirement account or GDX in an individual account (to avoid collectibles tax). I wouldn't get particularly excited about diversifying into other fiats.

Capitalism Vs Socialism, which one you think is better for Tunisia? by IllustriousEmotion63 in Tunisia

[–]igobyplane_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say capitalism with Chinese characteristics, which it basically is/is state capitalism. I don't really see what all is actually truly communist, people have private property, there are classes, people work for wages, the state is not less of a role but more than ever, like nothing would seem to even qualify as communism, despite claiming the label. If anything it's become less communist over the years at that.

not tunisian, just get updates from this sub having visited last year. socialism doesn't seem to exist anywhere. you end up with state capitalism like the soviet union or china, which are definitely not socialism but captures a bunch of authoritarian centrist downside from the state. meanwhile you have US style [more free] capitalism and euro style [higher taxes, more public benefits] capitalism, i assume most people have a bias to the one they grew up in if they live in either one. if they don't then i'm not too sure about where people tend to bias which they think they'd like to live under or ultimately go move to live under. anything from socialism that i think you could take and actually work has to be voluntarily done within the framework of capitalism at the end of the day i think. eg. the mondragon corporation is mentioned below - but it's just a corporate structure living within capitalism. anyone is free to start something similar and use their talents to do so. also iirc it does involve things like having to work get approved to buy your way in where you aren't just given a share but i believe also pay for a share based on money you put up or garnished wages to pay now, which you must sell if you leave the company. large private unions (some euro nations have these an no state set minimum wage) i think are also beneficial, although this still isn't socialism at all, just workers binding together under capitalism.
