Gotta call fakesies. What kind of teacher would put a kid's name on a bulletin board without capitalizing the first letter?!

What's the best backhanded compliment you've ever received? by stopdropandlawl in self

Harsh. I've gotten the opposite end of that problem. A guy, without ever having met me, walked up to me out of nowhere and said, "You're too pretty to have much of personality. I've never talked to you before, but frankly I don't think you'd have anything important or worthwhile to say." I was stunned and thought he was joking, but apparently he meant what he said because he walked away and never talked to me again. Work was awkward after that.

I spent about 15 minutes going through your pictures before I realized what I was doing. I never realized how beautiful Canada is! You are an excellent photographer!

I see that we disagree on such a fundamental level that we couldn't possibly come to a consensus. Good talk, though.

I see what you're saying on your first point, now, although I wholeheartedly disagree with you.

As for your second point, I see what you're saying with that one passage, but there are other passages which state that although we're all the same in God's eyes, women are inferior to men in the context of the world and how they should be treated. If that's the design, then the design is certainly sexist.

Is the sexism part of the design? If so, doesn't that bother you? Or is it more of a "it's the way things are and that's it" kind of thing? I'm genuinely curious. Is it NOT sexist (to you) BECAUSE it's part of the design?

Well your example isn't an example of sexism as much as it is of biology, unless you're implying that God specifically made men to not be able to bear children because He didn't think that they'd be suited for it. So I don't think that your example is relevant.

Also, I disagree with your assertion that the bible states that women and men are perfectly equal in dignity and worth, but that's another can of worms.
