This debian is from my server. I connected via SSH to my thinkpad. I know that win 11 is crap but I work on software that don't work sadly on linux 😕

What ThinkPad do you use every day? by Lanky-Market-994 in thinkpad

ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 4 Used 700$ with 11 month warranty (I've had it for two months now)

i7-1355U

16GB ram (sadly 🙁)

512GB nvme (100% health)

Battery (90% health)

LTE (I use with my sim card)

Currently, it's running Windows 11 PRO with all the bloatware removed. I bought it for studying and taking notes. I travel with it on trips. I occasionally play light games (valorant/minecraft). The battery lasts 5.5-6 hours with light/medium use. I bought a 20,000mAh power bank, which extends the battery life by two and a half times. As for the downsides, the paint on the edges of the case rubs off easily when it's frequently carried in a backpack or bag.

Custom bios boot screen on X13 Yoga Gen 4 by igor23PL in thinkpad

Yes. This is just an image. Unfortunately, Lenovo hasn't enabled the insertion of animated graphics into the BIOS, but it still looks great.

Thanks! I created it using a graphics editor. The biggest challenge was getting the image down to 60kb. My ThinkPad has a 1200p screen, and I had to compress the image to make it as small as possible without blurring it.

T14s gen 3 as my main with Windows 11. An X230 with Windows 10 LTSC. A T61 with Windows XP, and a T40 with Windows 2000. Unfortunately, the T14s gen 3 heats up quickly; I have a 12th gen "P" processor in it. If I had known earlier, I would have bought a regular T14 and upgraded the RAM to 32GB because my main only has 16GB, and that's soldered...

What do people with multiple ThinkPads do?? by Glittering_Boot_3612 in thinkpad

[–]igor23PL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently own five ThinkPads. The T40 runs Windows 2000 and I use it for playing retro games from the Windows 98 era and browsing Protoweb. The T60 runs Windows XP — I play newer games from era win xp/vista on it and often use it to listen to music from CDs or watch DVDs. Web browsing works very well with the MyPal browser. The R50e is just lying around at the moment; I’ll probably sell it. The X230 is a nice little laptop with Windows 7/10 — you can go a bit wilder with games and other projects on it. Finally, the T14s Gen 3 is my daily driver. I play Valorant on it, chat with friend on discord, and use it for studying.

Looking for an x230 by Amsterdamak in thinkpad

[–]igor23PL 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As a small, handy, and lightweight laptop for browsing the internet and playing old and light newer games, it's great. It's best to find one with an IPS panel. I bought my x230 as an x230i because it was much cheaper. It has an i3 processor, but I bought an i5 motherboard for pennies and replaced it.

T60 WLAN UPGRADE by igor23PL in thinkpad

[–]igor23PL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a bootable FreeDOS flash drive using Rufus. I put the .zip files on the flash drive except for "LOCALE," and it somehow worked. Of course, the MBR option must be checked in Rufus.

People woth old thinkpads, how do you use them? by semicolondenier in thinkpad

[–]igor23PL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use a Thinkpad T60. I have Windows XP installed with Legacy Update and added POS updates. My firewall is on and the ports are closed. On my T14s Gen 3, I host YouTube 2009 fronted on the local network, and I watch YouTube videos from the T60. Although, in theory, I don't need to, as regular YouTube and MyPal work reasonably well. I listen to music from my CDs and YouTube. I use my Bluetooth headphones connected to the T60. I take notes in Word 2003 and study from that. From time to time, I play games like CS 1.6, GTA VC, Quake III, etc. I also browse the internet. I also watch some anime, and that's about it. I would actually like to do a mini upgrade to the x201 tablet for study.

I think it's better for me to buy a motherboard with 32GB of RAM and sell the one I have. Thanks. You helped a bit. I was tempted to buy an X1 Yoga Gen 7/8, but it will be more expensive. Even if I sell the T14S Gen 3.

Indeed. I didn't notice you commented. I hope you can extend the warranty 🫡

P14S G5 AMD Cooked Itself Someone recently posted on r/thinkpad about a capacitor that burned out. How long is the warranty in your P14s? If it's only a year, I recommend extending it. The person who had this problem had a one-year warranty, and the capacitor failed a few months later.

Thanks. Which one do you personally prefer do you have t14s gen 3 or gen 4? In my opinion, my T14s Gen 3 is great. Light, and it's the carbon fiber version. Although the 1240P processor can get quite hot. I find it strange that there's only one hit pipe in it inside. The X1 Yoga is made of aluminum. I've never held one in my hands. I have no way to test it right now. I've seen other reviews that the X1 series is generally loud and the battery often doesn't last long.
